Dying Light 2 has a handful of players' choices during the campaign. Some of these choices can impact the narrative results in the game. It can be hard to know which events will have a lasting impact on the game, especially with essential characters. Does helping Hakon change the course of the game?
Leaving Hakon won't cause his death in Dying Light 2, as he survives regardless of Aiden's intervention. Helping him does send Aiden chasing after his assassin, introducing players to Lawan a bit earlier, but Hakon will make a return near the end of the game regardless. The most impactful change here is how Hakon and Aiden end their conversation. A side mission opens up to those who aid Hakon—Sniper's Alley, so if you're in the market for some experience, give the old friend a hand.

Should you leave Hakon to die, he'll be spiteful when next Aiden and Hakon meet, but offering to help him makes him a bit more sympathetic during their subsequent encounter. There is a chance that Hakon becomes a future boss fight when you leave him to die, forcing players to kill him, but this wasn't the case during our playthrough despite abandoning him. We recommend helping Hakon to avoid a fight and to get another chance to aid an important character later on.
