Enshrouded has a skill tree that branches out towards different classes. However, at the start of the game, it's better to cherry-pick the skills that ease your journey through the early stages, rather than specializing in any given class.
Recommended skills for early game in Enshrouded
You can always respec your character at the Flame Altar (for a cost of 10 Runes). So you can experiment with builds until you've found a playstyle that suits you the best.
Have in mind that, until you can craft better Gliders, you will be doing a lot of walking. And a lot of running. That is why, at first, I recommend steering your character towards the Survivor line to get the most out of your stamina and be able to traverse the world faster.
- I recommend to get at least one point of Endurance since it increases your Stamina by 10 per Attribute Point allocated.
- Take the perk Runner, which gives you 10% increased speed and 10% decreased stamina consumption.
- The perk Double Jump is expensive (4 skill points), but it has helped me getting to harder places in dungeons, accessing secret chests, and climbing cliffs to save some time.
- Inner Fires expands your shroud time by 2 minutes, which will allow you to get more exploration.
- Airborne makes gliders consume 30% less stamina, effectively increasing the distance you can travel with your flights.
- Updraft allows you to press the jump button while gliding to receive a small boost that elevates you at the cost of 120 mana.
Best skills for ranged builds in Enshrouded
Even if you prefer melee combat, there are times where you will need a ranged weapon to hit enemies that are shooting at you from the top of a tower. If you know you'll be using bows often, you will definitely want to take a look at these perks:
- Swiftshot Sustenance has a 30% chance of spawning a Stamina orb when you defeat an enemy with a bow. This is useful if you are wielding longbows, which are stronger bows but consume stamina with each shot.
- Dexterity increases range damage by 5% with each point invested.
- Marksman increases damage with ranged weapons by 10%.
- Sharpshooter increases all ranged damage by an additional 20%.
- Skill shot increases damage to the head of enemies by 20%.
- Multi shot has a 20% chance of spawning a flurry of arrows from one of your shots.
- Bee Sting allows you to use your bow while you are gliding. Although it will cost stamina and lower your flight, it can still be fun to attempt a snipe from the skies.
Best skills for melee builds in Enshrouded
This build is intended for general melee characters, and therefore I won't mention any of the perks that become weapon specific, such as Slasher, Brute or Thrust.
- Merciless attack is a strong finisher when you've overpowered your enemy. For that, you'll need to fill their stun bar by parrying their attacks or attacking while they block.
- The Warrior's Path increases all melee damage by 10%.
- Vigorous Deflection returns 30 Stamina to you when you parry an enemy's attack. This is useful when you are getting surrounded by many foes.
- Bash returns the favor to your enemy and deals 20 damage when you parry their attacks.
- If you want to spice up your combat, the Jump Attack and Jump Attack II perks are a fun additions. They allow you to hit enemies from a jump, or double jump, and deal extra amounts of damage.
- Swift Blades allows you to attack faster with one-handed swords and axes.
Best skills for magic users in Enshrouded
Although you can solo as a magic user, this build works best within a party of allies. Melee weapons are still best to survive on your own, especially when outnumbered. You won't want to be bringing your staff or wand to a fight where you may be quickly surrounded. Especially because after a while, your mana bar will be depleted.
- Blink transforms your Dodge Roll into a quick teleport.
- Blink Attack allows you to deal fire damage in a small area when you blink into an enemy.
- Emergency Blink lets you blink while being stunned. This can save your life against some enemies, or against some traps like the spike trap.
- Shroud Filter has a 15% chance of restoring 30 seconds of shroud time for you and your allies every time you deal magic damage.
- Water Aura is a great support skill that regenerates 1 HP per second for each Intelligence point you have.
- Unity has 24% chance of recovering 2 mana when you use a wand.
- Sting increases the repeated Wand damage by 20%
- Life Burst heals your allies by 3 times your intelligence when you kill an enemy within 50ft of them.
