Levels aren’t enough to win your battles in Final Fantasy XVI; you need abilities. Gathering ability points (AP) to master them is tough—so tough that you can finish the game without mastering even just the abilities you use. This farming guide can help you save precious time.
How to get AP fast in FF16
In reality, farming AP in FF16 isn’t that difficult. All you need is an accessory called The Wages of Warcraft and a stage map with a ton of monsters to kill. The Wages of Warcraft is an accessory that lets you earn 20% more AP in normal or mob battles. I don’t recommend you grind AP without this accessory with you—but you can only get it after a certain point in the story.
Spoilers below:
You can purchase The Wages of Warcraft from Lady Charon (Cid’s Hideaway) after the five-year time skip in the game. If you're in no rush, farm for AP before the point of no return, where you can have access to better areas and are able to overpower mobs with your level.
Then, make sure you have all the AoE/area-wide abilities you need equipped. This will help you defeat enemies faster. Some examples include Ramuh's Pile Drive, Titan's Upheaval, and Phoenix's Flames of Rebirth. If you're bought the FF16 DLCs, then just Leviathan's and the second Eikon's special ability will suffice.

Best maps to AP grind in FFXVI
One of the best things about Final Fantasy 16 is the ability to replay story dungeons or stages you’ve finished using the Arete Stone. These are the best places to grind AP since enemies always appear in hoards, and the maps are linear. Stage Replay enemies will drop fewer EXP points but the same number of AP.
Most of the stages make good farming areas. Just avoid maps with a lot of ladders/climbing, like The Crystalline Dominion and Drake’s Breath, so you can save time. Personally, Rosalith and Kanver would be my top map picks for AP grinding. If you purchased The Rising Tide DLC, then you have access to my favorite AP grinding space: Mysidia and its monster-filled forests.
