How to defeat Behemoth King in Final Fantasy 16

You're almost at the end.

Behemoth King is the last notorious mark you need to defeat in Final Fantasy XVI, and one of the most difficult for the unequipped. So, if you haven’t crafted the Gotterdammerung at this point, do so now. If you’re still having a bit of trouble, however, I’ve got your back. Here’s how to defeat Behemoth King in FF16.

FF16 Behemoth King strategy, tips & tricks

Behemoth King boasts more attacks compared to Svarog, the other, arguably more challenging S-rank in the game. What makes this beast more manageable compared to Svarog, however, is that it gives you an opportunity to dodge succeeding attacks should you fail to avoid the first hit. So, even though Behemoth King packs a punch, you’re not always at the mercy of its attacks.

The best strategy to adopt against Behemoth King is to always get close. It uses a lot of magic and punishes those who play at long range. Make sure you’re always close enough to swing your sword at him and dodge when necessary. You can equip Shiva for Cold Snap for this.

Alternatively, you can equip Garuda for access to Deadly Embrace. When used repeatedly against a big enemy, this ability can keep Clive in midair. This allows you to dodge most of Behemoth King’s attacks. It’s best paired with Satellite (Bahamut), allowing you to deplete its will gauge ASAP. Then, do your Jump + melee combo for a downward thrust when you’re near. It’ll take you a bit longer, but it’s safer.

For button mashers, I have the set for you: Diamond Dust (Shiva), Satellite (Bahamut), Aerial Blast (Garuda), and Scarlet Cyclone (Phoenix). All these moves deplete Will Gauges quickly. Use them when Behemoth King is up and Limit Break attack when it’s staggered. It isn’t as fun as big able to be cool and dodge, but it’ll get the job done. Don’t forget Will-o’-the-Wykes (Ifrit), the passive shield that will protect you in a pinch.
