All job/class changes coming in Final Fantasy XIV 6.1

Jobs are changing!

With Final Fantasy XIV’s 6.1 patch coming out sometime in April, many fans are wondering how their favorite jobs will be affected. In a recent livestream, the game’s director and producer Naoki Yoshida shared some of the upcoming class balance changes expected in 6.1. What's more with the official patch notes released on April. 11, even more class changes were revealed.

So, which classes are being affected by these changes, and by how much? Below, we’ve listed all the class balance changes coming to Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker in patch 6.1.

6.1 Ability changes

Bard

  • Repelling Shot range increased and activation time adjusted
  • Battle Voice no longer needs Mage's Ballad, Army's Paeon, or the Wanderer's Minuet to be active to use.
  • Wanderer's Minuet transforms to Pitch Perfect upon execution

Dark Knight

  • Living Dead changed: When Walking Dead activates (i.e., you take fatal damage), a buff will now cause HP to be significantly restored when you land attacks.
  • Grit Recast time has been reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.
  • Flood of Darkness Potency has been reduced from 130 to 100.
  • Blood Weapon Now grants 5 stacks of the Blood Weapon effect, and the effect duration has been increased from 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Stalwart Soul Now acquired at level 40 (previously level 72).

Dancer

  • Standard Step, Emboite, Entrechat, Jete, Technical Step, and Pirouette are now classed as weaponskills
  • Changes to Silken Flow, Silken Symmetry, Flourishing Flow, and Flourishing Symmetry making combo actions easier to execute.

Gunbreaker

  • Royal Guard recast time has been reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.

Machinist 

  • Potency of Heat Blast, Wildfire, Drill, and others will be increased.

Monk

  • Perfect Balance can no longer be executed while under the effect of any Beast Chakra.

Ninja

  • Mug now applies a debuff to enemies, increasing the amount of damage they take from allied party members.
  • Trick Attack now only works on personal damage.
  • Action potencies adjusted to balance the above.

Paladin

  • Iron Will recast time has been reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.
  • Clemency, Holy Circle, and Holy Spirit cast no longer interrupts action combos.
  • Requiescat: The additional effect "Grants Blade of Faith Ready when the effect of Requiescat ends" has been added with a duration of 30 seconds.
  • Confiteor the additional effect "Restores own HP" has been added with a cure potency of 400.
  • Blade of Faith is no longer a combo action with Confiteor. The requirement of "Blade of Faith Ready" has been added. The additional effect "Restores own HP" has been added with a cure potency of 400.
  • Blade of Truth additional effect "Restores own HP" has been added with a cure potency of 400.
  • Blade of Valor additional effect "Restores own HP" has been added with a cure potency of 400.
  • Divine Magic Mastery II now adds a healing effect to Confiteor.

Samurai

  • Midare Setsugekka, Kaeshi Setsugekka, Ogi Namikiri, and Kaeshi Namikiri are now automatic critical hits. This change has been made to resolve issues with widely fluctuation DPS.
  • Hissatsu: Kaiten (The DPS buff ability) has been removed.
  • To balance the above, all action potencies have been adjusted, with most increased, and some minorly reduced to balance the automatic crits.

Warrior

  • Defiance recast time has been reduced from 10 to 3 seconds.
  • Overpower area of effect has been changed from a cone before you to all nearby enemies.
  • Stacks of Inner Release now only apply to Fell Cleave and Decimate. The additional effect "Nullifies Stun, Sleep, Bind, Heavy, and most knockback and draw-in effects" has been changed to "Grants Inner Strength, nullifying Stun, Sleep, Bind, Heavy, and most knockback and draw-in effects."

6.1 Animation changes

Dragoon

  • Animation lock on all Jump actions has been reduced.

Summoner

  • Searing Light now originates from the Summoner rather than Carbuncle.
  • Some cast times increased put potency increased to balance

Reaper

  • Hell's Ingress and Hell's Egress duration increased, animation shortened. Regress animation shortened

Red Mage

  • Displacement animation has been shortened

6.1 Healing Range changes

Astrologian

  • Combust's effect duration has been increased from 18 to 30 seconds.

Scholar

  • The effect radius of Sacred Soil has been extended to 10 Yalms
  • The effect duration of Expedience, the active component of Expedient, has been reduced from 20 seconds to 10 seconds, in line with Sprint

White Mage

  • Cure III and Asylum radius extended by 10 yalms
  • Liturgy of the Bell can now be ended at will to restore HP depending on stacks held

Sage

  • Dosis MP cost has been reduced from 400 to 300.
  • Soteria Now grants 4 stacks of the Soteria effect. Effect potency has been increased from 50% to 70%.
  • Addersting Now gain maximum stacks of Addersting upon entering an instance or restarting an instance battle.

All Healers

  • Lucid Dreaming is now acquired at level 14 (previously level 24).

Overall the changes spell more simplicity and quality of life improvements for the jobs affected. For one, Dark Knight players will be happy to see their class get a lot more playability in dungeons improved.
