The main quest of Forspoken is very short compared to other similar role-playing games. If you're trying to finish the game fast, you can do so in 7 to 10 hours of playtime. During the last chapter of the game, Tanta Cinta, Frey's mother, gives her a choice of either returning to New York or fighting the final threat in Athia.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
What happens if I choose New York in Forspoken?
If you chose the portal to the right, you will arrive in New York after a goodbye message from Cinta Tanta. Your character, Frey, will be seen walking down the streets of the city holding her beloved cat, Homer, after which the end credits will start rolling. This is the easy way out and you will not receive any achievement/trophy, but it's an alternate ending nonetheless.
What happens if I choose Athia in Forspoken?
The real story will continue when you chose the left portal. You'll fight alongside your mother Tanta Cinta after she transforms into her Dragon form. The battles with Susurrus will take place in Cipal where you'll fight its three powerful forms. During the first battle, Frey's Dragon mother dies protecting her. However, Frey gets her mother's teleportation abilities and all her magic powers are enhanced.
Forspoken ending explained
At the end of the final fight, Frey transforms into the Tanta of Tantas and defeats Susurrus or Vambrace. The people of Athia mourn the death and look forward to a peaceful future. But that's not it. In the post-credit scene, we see Frey talking to Cuff again, proving that Susurrus isn't dead yet. It's waiting for Frey to turn mad just like the other Tantas, after which it'll destroy Athia once and for all. Now you can continue playing Forspoken, exploring the remaining parts of the map and uncovering new secrets and gear.
