Fortnite Placeholder quest explained – How to fix

What is the Placeholder?

Ahead of the much anticipated Fortnite update that'll bring Jujutsu Kaisen into the game, there's a bug that added in Placeholder challenges. Strangely enough, you can complete the quest without even knowing what it is. Still, just what are these Placeholder challenges anyway?

What is the Fortnite Placeholder quest?

If you logged into Fortnite on August 7 onwards, you've probably noticed a placeholder Doctor Slone quest available. It doesn't tell you what to do, but players have reported that emoting during a game has given them experience and complete the quest.

As for whether you can make the quests appear or fix themselves, that remains to be seen. Fortnite is aware the quests are in the game in this state.

As of right now, there's not a fix for this issue. Luckily, the Snapshot Quests should simply release with the next update, so it's not going to be a lingering issue. As far as bugs are concerned, this is one of the better ones to have as it has no impact on gameplay, unlike the Gold Bars one. The only annoying thing is possibly auto-completing it without knowing what it was that you did.

Many people like to follow along with the Fortnite narrative, and getting quests from Doctor Slone is one such way they've been able to do that. Completing a step without getting to see what it is isn't ideal, so our advice is to avoid emoting for a day or even not playing until the next update arrives.
