Fortnite v23.40 Patch Notes | Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Updates & Patches

Everything to know about the update!

Epic Games just dropped an update for Chapter 4 Season 1 of Fortnite introducing new items, augments, and fixes. Some older weapons were unvaulted, and exotics are now back in the game with five different weapons to enjoy. They also added a new heat level system, and vaults. Here is everything to know about the Fortnite v23.40 Patch Notes.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 v23.40 Patch Notes

New Augments

  • Exotic Grab Bag
    • Receive a random Heisted Exotic weapon.
  • Sniper Surplus
    • Your Sniper Rifle will have one extra ammo in the magazine.
  • Keymaster
    • Grants two keys for opening Holo-Chests.
  • Last Shots
    • The last two bullets of your Pistol deal bonus damage.

Battle Royale Exotics Joining Creative

New Exotic weapons are in Battle Royale and Creative:

  • Heisted Breacher Shotgun
    • Destroys buildings instantly.
  • Heisted Explosive Assault Rifle
    • Fires explosive round projectiles.
  • Heisted Accelerant Shotgun
    • Increases movement speed and fire rate as you damage enemies.
  • Heisted Run 'N' Gun SMG
    • Slap Juice effect and reloads while sprinting.
  • Heisted Blink Mag SMG
    • Grants Zero Point Dash for a few seconds after reloading.

Unvaulted Weapons

  • Submachine Gun
  • Dual Pistols
  • Hand Cannon
  • Heavy Sniper Rifle
  • Boom Sniper Rifle
  • Hop Rock Dualies

Pop-up Dialog Device Updates

  • When Custom is chosen in the Placement option, you can see new alignment and placement options.
  • The new maximum number of buttons has increased from two to six.
  • A new timer option that can display a countdown with dialogue.
  • The new maximum number of text characters on buttons has increased from eight to 24.

Upgraded Devices

Changing the name of devices is a lot easier now. You can click on the device name at the top of the Customize panel and enter the new name. If you are on console, you will have to use the left trigger to focus on the name and change it.

Device Updates:

  • You can select all the nodes of an AI Patrol Path by holding the Select button on console, and the R key on PC.
  • Recharge Time on reboot vans.

  • Updated Cloud Prop Gallery to include clouds with no collision.

Heat Level

You can see the heat level as flame icons in your HUD. It will increase by eliminating opponents and opening vaults.

  • Heat Level One
    • Eliminated opponents drop additional bars.
  • Heat Level Two
    • Increases movement speed by 15%, and regenerates up to 100 health.
  • Heat Level Three
    • Increases movement speed by 20%, and regenerates up to 100 health and 50 shields.
  • Heat Level Four
    • Increases movement speed by 25%, and regenerates up to 100 health and 100 shields.

Bug Fixes

Prefab and Gallery fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the wrong thumbnail was displayed in the Cyber City buildings B Gallery.
  • Fixed an issue where the Destroyed Floor Prop Gallery was not showing in Creative Inventory.
  • Fixed an issue with z-fighting in the Reactive Trim Gallery.

Device Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with the Save Point.
  • Fixed an issue with the Ball Spawner looking different when placed upside down.
  • Fixed an issue with the Ball Spawner teleporting the ball when placed upside down.
  • Fixed the Ball Spawner's hologram size.
  • Fixed an issue with the Speaker device where the volume was reset to default.

Island Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with floating assets on Frosty Fortress.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash.
  • Fixed an issue where creators were kicked out.
  • Fixed an issue where islands converted to upgraded devices could not have their fog colour set to black.

Gameplay Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Dragon Ball content was spawning in Battle Royale Islands.
  • Fixed an issue where players could matchmaker into a broken Island.
  • Fixed an issue where the object placement preview was hidden.
  • Fixed an issue where weapons made with the Melee Designer would not damage builds.
  • Prevented Loot Llamas from entering Battle Royale Islands.
