How to Bring the Prism to Trace at The Apparatus in Fortnite (Map)

It's time to go treasure hunting again in Fortnite, but unlike with the Snapshot quests to return the Chalice, this quest is completely secret. You won't start it until you find the treasure yourself, but completing it will earn you major XP. You'll need to locate Prisms and return them safely to Trace at the unmarked location—The Apparatus. Here's how to get started!

How to get the Prisms in Fortnite

This quest won't show up in your quests tab like the Snapshots quests or anything else. Instead, you will need to interact with the Prisms to begin. As soon as you interact with them, a prompt will tell you to take the Prism to Trace. The Prisms are hidden all around the jungle in various temples; some of them are a bit farther away, but I was able to find one directly under Trace at The Apparatus itself on the ground level. This is the easiest one to focus on, so you can quickly knock it out and gain that XP fast before running into trouble.

To collect the Prisms, walk up to them on the pedestals and interact with them by holding X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, or E on PC. It won't take up any spots in your inventory, so you won't have to have to worry about making room.

How to find Trace in Fortnite

Once you have the Prism, you'll need to try to find Trace as soon as possible, because this quest only lasts as long as you are in the match. The Apparatus is an unmarked location, so it can be harder to find, but we have an exact marker shown on the map below to help you get there more easily.

Where is The Apparatus in Fortnite?

You'll find the Apparatus and Trace just east of Rumble Ruins. The Apparatus is a large open temple, unmarked on the map, but because it's so large, you should be able to see its outline on the map when you zoom in. At the ground level, there is an opening where you can go inside, where you should find one of the Prisms. Then you can climb up to the top via the stone steps winding around it.

Once you speak to Trace and hand over the Prism, you will be rewarded with 20,000 XP instantly. This is a great way to speed up your progress through the Battle Pass and earn those amazing rewards as quickly as possible. You can repeat the process in different matches to maximize your XP gain.
