Although your game is always saved, dying is still a problem. When you die, you drop your stuff, but you respawn. Closer spawn points are handy for retrieving lost loot, so here's how to change them.
How to set a spawn point in LEGO Fortnite
You can set a new respawn point to help avoid that long distance between your fallen backpack and your respawn location. If you don't have a respawn point set, you will automatically respawn at the starting area where Brite Bomber is wandering. To change that, you're going to want to place down a bed. You can make a bed from your Build menu with 10 pieces of wood.
To ensure that your spawn point is set onto that bed, you'll need to approach it and select the option to 'Assign to bed.' This will open a menu of players currently in the world and allow you to choose one of them, including yourself. Once you're assigned, approach the bed again and it should say 'Set respawn location and rest.' Resting will also restore your health.
Now when you die, you will respawn at the same location as your bed. However, if you ever want to move your spawn point again, you'll want to make sure you assign and rest on the new bed.
You're definitely going to want a spawn point set up in your base to be prepared, but it also is useful to place down another bed if you've wandered really far and don't want to risk losing your loot when you die.
