The Walking Dead Universe lends itself as a perfect crossover for Fortnite. With Zombie type enemies and iconic weapons (Lucile I'm looking at you), here's everything you need to know about this collab between Epic and Skybound, including how to play the TWD islands in Fortnite.
What Are the Walking Dead Universe Islands?
The Walking Dead Islands are various game modes in Fortnite which use (in some way or another) assets from the Fortnite x Skybound collab. These can be both official (created by Skybound games), or created by the fans. You'll find both of these island types side by side under the TWD Universe collection. And it's not just zombie shooters, you'll also find PvP and PvE game modes, from deathmatches, to TDs and RPs. There's everything you can imagine for you zombie lovers here in the The Walking Dead playlist.
Some games just have weapons from the series, while others are full immersive experiences that will have you shivering in your boots and blasting anything that moves (sorry teammates that keep getting in my crosshairs).
How to Access the Walking Dead Universe

- First you have to start up Fortnite.
- Once in, scroll down in the island selection until you reach game collections. You'll see The Walking Dead collection, along with the TMNT, LEGO and even Fall Guys collections.
- Click on it and you'll be taken to all islands that have the TWD tag.
As I mentioned above, some of these only have weapons from the series (like Red vs Blue), while others include zombies and even familiar areas. I suggest checking out the official island Courtyard King: The Walking Dead Universe created by Skybound games if you want to fight other players for dominance in the prison (admittedly one of my most favorite TWD seasons).

While numbers do speak for themselves, I'd also recommend looking through all the games in the collection as you might find a sleeper hit that you really like. You can search through the top played games at the top of the collection page, but you can also look in depth through each specific tag below. The New and Updated section is a good spot to check in on every once in a while in case anything interesting pops up.
Exclusive TWD Weapons and Features

The Walking Dead universe crossover includes two weapons added to Fortnite: Creative, the Lucille bat and Shiva Shotgun. Let's check out both and how to handle them in the game.
Lucille, Negan's beloved bat, is a melee weapon in Fortnite which you can use to bash both players and NPCs (Glen forever!). The M1 is a standard swing attack, while M2 is a heavy (with an honestly amazing cartoon effect). Make sure that you're also using an air attack on Lucille to get AoE slam damage on all enemies close to you. I suggest using this weapon when there are too many enemies around you (get to swinging).
The Shiva Shotgun is a medium range weapon with a very tight spread. If you aim, it gets even tighter which I prefer compared to some of the other shotgun sprays in the game. However, the most fun part of this weapon is the charge up. Hold the trigger and release an explosive round that will knock out your foes. Use these two in combination to really feel like you're in TWD.
Top TWD Game Modes
As I said above, I definitely recommend checking out the official collaboration island, but here are some others that are extremely fun or challenging, or both. Why not both?
Courtyard King The Walking Dead Universe

Skybound games' officially created island, and I have to say it is one of the more difficult experiences. You'll choose one of the three factions and then fight against others to keep control of the prison basement. However, this is a PvPvE, which means that the environment will also fight back in the form of many, many Walkers. If you want to experience the worst of humanity, and the best of shooting up zombies, then this is definitely an island for you.

Zombie Farm

My absolute favorite is the Zombie Farm. On this island, you'll be playing through rounds and rounds of zombies coming straight at you with up to four other players. As you progress further and further, you'll get better weapons, but you'll also see more powerful zombie enemies. If you're playing with teammates, this map isn't that difficult, and it's a pretty easy XP farm (get it, farm?). If you enjoy running around and trying to stay alive while shooting up zombies, then this island is the one for you.

Dead City TWDU Zombie Survival

If you're looking for the full experience, zombies, environment, limited weapons and ammo and enemy players, then Dead City TWDU is the island to join. If you can get past the spawn campers, you'll definitely enjoy exploring Lawless City, battling NPCs, humans, and wiping out hoards of the undead. Zombie apocalypse roleplayers have never had it so easy.

Zombie Tycoon

Fans of tycoon style games, don't worry, you aren't forgotten. Zombie Tycoon will have you building your own empire and drilling for fuel as you reinforce your base and then reinforce it some more. Protect yourself from zombie waves and raid the city for money and even more fuel. Headshots give you money, so keep your aim true!

The Walking Dead Telltale games, along with the show have always attracted me and many others. It's good to get more collaborations such as this one between Epic and Skybound, where you get to explore the post-apocalyptic world and maybe even create one of your own.
Once you start up Fortnite, scroll down until you see The Walking Dead Universe collection. Enter the playlist and explore all of the islands which include iconic TWD features.
Lucille is a pickaxe which can be picked up at the Fortnite Item for 800 V-Bucks
You can only find the Shiva Shotgun in Fortnite Creative modes, for example, in any of the TWD Collection islands.
