Genshin Impact teases Natlan with a first look at the region’s Pokemon-esque creatures

Despite there being only three months left until the fated Natlan update, Genshin Impact has kept information on the land of dragons relatively sparse. However, a one-minute teaser attached to the Version 4.7 Special Program has just changed everything we thought we knew about the nation ruled by the Pyro Archon.

Over the years, snippets from various NPCs painted a distinct picture of Natlan—one ravaged by war, cultural differences among tribes, and a fiery climate that has made the nation known for its hot springs. In fact, an Inazuman bathhouse owner described the place as "a country of red-hot passion, both in name and climate."

Natlan's dragons, called Saurians, are known to be unique as years of evolution have allowed them to co-exist with humans. They presumably accompany humanity in the neverending conflict in the region, where Il Capitano, one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, is said to be involved with. He's likely to be one of the primary Fatui members players meet in the new nation.

Players have caught glimpses of Natlan-related designs in the past through Iansan and Vennessa, so it's difficult not to imagine an environment filled with volcanoes, lava, destruction, and dragon fire. However, the minute-long Natlan trailer paints a completely different landscape—one with bright colors and dragons that look more like Pokemon than the fearsome creatures associated with constant warfare.

The trailer features three adorable Saurians, who look a lot like starter Pokemon. They're shown to make interesting environmental maneuvers, such as traversing underground, swimming against the waterfall's current, and using grappling hooks to fly across the sky. HoYoverse has made it their goal to incorporate new exploration maneuvers with every update, so it would be interesting to experience them alongside Saurian companions.

While the trailer features some scenes of lava, they look extremely bright and a lot friendlier than what players expect from prior descriptions of Natlan. The final scene also showcases an environment full of mountains, greenery, and what looks like a dragon flying in the background. Perhaps the little Saurians could evolve into formidable creatures when they grow older, but that's for players to discover upon stepping foot into Natlan.

For now, you can learn more about Saurians by participating in the ongoing event called Specially-Shaped Saurian Search, which runs from May 22, 2024, to June 3, 2024. Additionally, don't forget to watch the adorable Natlan trailer on the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel:
