Why are Genshin Impact players upset about Yae Miko?

Yae Miko isn't as powerful as players wanted.

Genshin Impact is a large game with tons of five-star characters. It's not surprising that a few special character releases aren't going too smoothly, and Yae Miko's release is one of them. She was long anticipated by players, but when she came out, it was obvious she wasn't the top-tier five-star they wanted.

Players are angry because Yae Miko is clunky, has a high Burst cost, and her Elemental Skill has no invincibility frames. This has led to players across the world complaining, especially in the CN fanbase, as pointed out by YouTuber Emergency Food.

Yae's Elemental Skill takes three button presses instead of the standard single press found on other support units. In addition, enemies can easily interrupt the combo, as she has no invincibility frames while placing totems down. Even her Burst is seen as troublesome, as it needs 90 energy to cast.

This forces her to be paired with a battery character like Raiden Shogun to function properly. Due to these issues, she is hard to use in many META teams, and even some casual players may be put offput with how unsmooth it is to send out all three of her totems.

I start my day by exploring Teyvat in Genshin Impact and end it after reorganizing my apartment in Final Fantasy XIV. I am a diehard fan of N64 era games and will forever feel betrayed that Megaman Legends didn't finish. Outside of gaming, I have spend my time collecting manga, collecting anime figures, and watching anime with my naked cat.
