5 tips for busting Ghosts in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

1. Stick together

While it may be tempting at the beginning of a match to split up and search for Rifts, this is a Ghostbusters game, not Scooby Doo. Ghosts are pretty difficult to catch on your own. If a ghost does find you on your own, they have more than enough abilities at their disposal to slime you quickly and leave your Proton Pack disabled. Sticking with your teammates gives you a much better chance of having the upper hand if you run into the Ghost, and together you can coordinate a catch quickly.

2. Use your P.K.E. by default

You may feel safer having your gun at the ready, but at least one Ghostbuster on every team should have their P.K.E. out. It's a valuable tool to help you find the Ghost and their Rifts. Perhaps more importantly, its P.K.E. Blast can sometimes be a critical offensive tool to stun a Ghost and make them easier to trap. Using a P.K.E. Blast does come at a cost of disabling your P.K.E. monitor for half a minute or so, so make sure to use it wisely.

3. Know which Ghost you're hunting

Each Ghost has their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You should familiarize yourself with them, not just so you can play well as a Ghost, but so you can change your strategy as a Ghostbuster as well. For example, Ectoplasts are quicker and can escape Tethers easier, so use P.K.E. blasts or Ionizing Pods to stun them or slow them down. Bashers are slower, but they are more also difficult to stun and get an initial tether on, so you may need more Proton Packs out to wrangle these ghosts in.

The first time you spot a ghost, pay attention. Each Ghost type has different variants with different abilities. Players can also change their Ghost's color schemes to try to fool you.

4. If you find a Rift, set up a trap.

Finding a Rift can quickly turn the tides in the Ghostbusters favor. Not only will you have a chance to destroy the Rift, attacking it will frequently put the ghost on the offensive to try and protect it. Set out a trap for the ghost and be ready to open it when he comes. If you trap him successfully, you may be able to destroy the Rift you found and force the Ghost to use another to respawn at the same time.

5. Always pick up your trap

Not every catch attempt will be successful. Before you run off after the Ghost, always, always pick your trap back up. If you find yourself going toe-to-toe with the ghost again, but left your trap in another room, you're out of luck. You'll either have to remember where you left it, or run back to the gear cart at the entrance to grab another.
