Can you lock onto enemies in Gotham Knights?

Get out of the way!

You will constantly be entering a fight in one way or another in Gotham Knights. But when you are not riding the batcycle around Gotham City, you may be fighting in tight quarters, where attempting to focus on higher priority targets becomes a concern. One problem that would solve this would be a manual lock-on feature. So can you lock on to enemies in Gotham Knights?

Is it possible to lock onto enemies manually in Gotham Knights?

No, you cannot lock on to enemies manually in Gotham Knights. There is no mechanic or an options menu toggle on or off. Even though this has never been a feature in any Arkham game, it would be a welcome addition since Gotham Knight's combat isn't as fluid as its predecessors.

Gotham Knights combat works by your hero automatically attacking in the direction you aim, and it will pseudo-lock onto enemies for you. However, this is easy to manage when multiple enemies surround you, as you can happily whale on everything without a care in the world by moving your direction inputs. But combos can easily break when you are not 100% aiming your directional input toward said enemy. Ranged combos are especially easy to break.

In games like Gotham Knights, when you want to get rid of the annoying or deadliest enemies first, the no lock-on functionality becomes an issue, as combat becomes a free-for-all. Sometimes the automatic lock-on breaks when multiple enemies are grouped together. Or you're about to attack, and another enemy comes into view. You may start aiming for that unintended target, which is cumbersome if they wield a shield. Frustration can quickly mount up.
