Brittle Whetstone can help you survive for longer in Grounded, but it can also help you more efficiently navigate the large yard you are stuck in. Knowing how to secure this upgrade can be confusing, so here are two ways to do it!
What do you need to make Brittle Whetstone in Grounded?
There are two recipe methods for creating Brittle Whetstone in Grounded. Both ways will require that you have a Smithing Station built. A Smithing Station is essentially an upgrade tool for all smithing-related items, such as weapons. Once you have the Smithing Station constructed, you'll choose one of two recipes for Brittle Whetstone:
- Sap and Larva Spike
- Brittle Quartzite Shards

How to make Brittle Whetstone in Grounded
Going with the first recipe, you will need one Sap and one Larva Spike, which you can find sap in various spots around the map. You'll be looking for a red-brown colored ball of liquid. Larva Spikes are collected by killing Larva, which are dropped at random intervals when looting the Larva body.
For the second recipe, you'll need to have a Pebblet Hammer and go to an area that spawns quartzite. These are mainly the caves throughout the map. Once you have broken into some rocks and found shards, head back to your Smithing Station and upgrade to Brittle Whetstone.
