Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy for Nintendo has a slightly different purchase process. Nintendo will not release physical copies of the game. Instead, they will require players to purchase the game on their Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo has not stated why this is the case, but it may have something to do with the size of the game. According to Nintendo, those who buy their game will receive a "cloud-based" version instead of a traditional one. Players will mostly stream the game in the Nintendo version instead of storing it on their hard drives.

Playing the game requires a strong internet connection, which is why Nintendo recommends it. Additionally, we recommend buying the game only if you have a strong internet connection. This version is not recommended if your connection is weak.
Additionally, there is only one version of this game available for Nintendo. Players will receive the base game with everything that comes with every other base game, but no bonuses from pre-orders or deluxe editions.
