Troy awaits its champions. Will you be one of them? Well, it all depends on how well you can survive (pun intended). To help you on your journey to becoming the best Greek mythology has ever seen, here is our ultimate Achilles Survivor beginner's guide!
How Survivors and Game Setup Work in Achilles Survivor
When starting a run in Achilles Survivor, you'll have to choose the realm, a location within the chosen realm, and finally, the survivor (character) you'll be playing. The realm and location determine the boss and other enemy spawns, while the survivor determines your starting power and bonus stats (depending on their class).
You unlock different realms and locations by defeating previous ones and completing objectives on them. On the other hand, each survivor has a specific milestone you need to complete to unlock it. You can learn what you have to do to unlock each survivor by hovering over them while in the survivor selection menu.
Important Things to Do on the Map During a Run
There are two resources you'll expend during your Achilles Survivor runs: gold and stone. You get gold (used for rerolls) by killing special enemies, completing rifts and other enemy spawners, and opening chests. All of those spawn around the map and are displayed on the minimap on the top right.
On the other hand, stone can be mined from stone mines by constructing them (blue circles on the minimap are construction spots) and holding them or by collecting stone slab spawns. Stone is used for the construction of useful combat/utility buildings and, most importantly, of the forge, which you use to upgrade your powers.
How Powers Work in Achilles Survivor
In Achilles Survivor, powers are the abilities your character uses to defeat enemies. Each survivor has an innate power, and that one will be available from the start of your run. As you level up (level breakpoints are 5, 12, 20), you'll unlock three additional powers from the pool of universal powers (check our powers tier list to learn which ones are best).
With every level up, you'll be able to choose improvements that will affect either your base stats or a specific power. After accumulating 5/10/15/20 improvements on a single power, you'll be able to transform it (gain power-specific bonuses) by building a Forge on one of the construction slots.
How Buildings Work in Achilles Survivor
Buildings provide the extra utility and stats you'll need in each of your runs. To construct a building, you'll need to move to one of the construction slots on the map, which are indicated by flags (small blue circles on the map). The resource used for building construction is stone.
The most important building is the Forge, which lets you transform your abilities. All other buildings give general utility, such as dealing damage around them, summoning creatures to fight for you, or allowing you to heal. You should try to construct buildings whenever you can, especially Fiery Turrets, which give you +15% Power Damage.
How Favors Work in Achilles Survivor
Favors is an upgrade system that lets you increase your power for all your future runs. You access the Favors from the main menu, and there are 16 of them, four being related to structures and 12 related to survivor stats.
The two resources used for upgrading Favors are Obols and Adamant, which you earn by completing runs and achievements. Refunding all the Obols and Adamant used is completely free. In general, evenly upgrading them is the best strategy. Also, remember to reset the Favors after collecting 420 Obols to max out a single Favor and unlock the Priest survivor.
