RoP Tech & Magic is everything but a simple gacha game, and there are noob traps that can set you back immensely, especially if you're rolling as a F2P. So, we decided to dumb down every mechanic and give you a clear path to follow as you progress. Here is our ultimate Realms of Pixel beginner's guide!
Realms of Pixel Tech & Magic Beginner's Guide & FAQ
How to Redeem Codes

The first important thing you'll want to do after logging into Realms of Pixel and finishing the tutorial is redeem the codes for some extra currency and summons. You can do that by clicking on your Avatar at the top left and then Redeem Code at the bottom right.
Regular Recruit & Faction Recruit - How Summoning Works

The two most important sources of new heroes and dupes in Realms of Pixel are the regular Hero Recruit and the Faction Recruit. The Hero Recruit, by default, has three banners (Byddy, Special, Friend) with different currency requirements and odds of getting 5✦ heroes. They all have a shared Mystic Recruit pity, which allows you to get guaranteed 5✦ heroes after you reach VIP 2.
Now, the most important of those three default banners is the Special Recruit. In general, you should never use Gems instead of tickets for the Special Recruit because you can get tickets at lower prices from different shops and promotions.

Regarding the Faction Recruit. Here, you should only summon on the Advent/Ascension (Dark/Light) banner, as it's one of the very few places in the game where you can actually get Advent/Ascension heroes. Here, you can also use Hero Swap to exchange bad 5✦ heroes of the three minor factions for a chance to get good ones.
Heroes - Best Heroes to Use

The maximum number of heroes in most modes in Realms of Pixel is six, which means you'll want to focus all your resources on the six best heroes you have. Fortunately, resets are free, and you can test out different heroes as much as you want. For a quick overview of which heroes are best and why, check out our Realms of Pixel tier list. For the early game, use these heroes:
- Lightbane: The only epic hero worth using. Has solid rear row DPS.
- Sakura Blade: Solid front row DPS.
- Blossomfly: Excellent rear row DPS and also applies Poison.
- Mystic Claw: The best Legendary hero with extremely good rear row DPS.
- Moonshadow: You get her for free, and her execute is extremely handy if you can reliably bring the enemy back line to low HP.
What to Buy in Shops - Where to Spend Currency

There are so many shops in Realms of Pixel for different game modes and currencies, and wisely spending your resources is paramount. Here is a short overview of each shop and which things you want to buy in each of them.
Daily Shop
The Daily Shop refreshes every 24 hours and contains basic resources. Only buy Star Grimoire (Free), Star Isle Visa (25 Gems), and Ascend Crest (80 Gems). Faction Dreamstones (1,000 Gems) are bad value if you're F2P.
Mystery Shop
In the Mystery Shop, you can buy items at a discount with five free refreshes per day. Never refresh using Gems. Look for Faction Dreamstone (600 Gems), Star Isle Visa (150 Gems), Experience Potion (1,000K Gold), Ascend Crests (300K Gold), Star Isle Pass (20K Gold), and Arena Challenge Coupon (20K Gold). You can mark these items by clicking on Marked Items in the middle. Don't buy other stuff.
Hero Shop
The Hero Shop contains several strong heroes you can get consistently. The priority is Vanquisher > Shadow Queen > Sword Sage. All other heroes are low-priority, and the chances are that you won't have enough to buy them all out. Never buy the random character shards for the minor factions.
Guild Shop
The Guild Shop refreshes every week, and you should focus on the 5-Star Hero Shard (2,000 Guild Coins) and red 3✦ equipment (20,000 Guild Coins per piece). All hero shards are irrelevant, so don't waste currency on them.
Arena Shop
In the Arena Shop, you want to focus on getting Faction Dreamstones, and later on, you will also need to buy Awakening Potion/Elixir/Vial and Dormant Hourglasses. The hero shards are irrelevant, and you should never buy them.
Clash Shop
The Clash Shop refreshes every 7 days and contains some of the strongest heroes in the game. Your priority is Ember Maiden > Shadow Queen > Aura Knight > Sword Sage. Everything else is just low-priority.
Sky Shop
The Sky Shop also contains some of the best heroes in the game, as well as Liquid Gold Hourglasses, which you'll need for hero rollbacks. The hero shard priorities are Lunar Sprite and Abyss Queen. Everything else is low-priority.
Shattered Shop
The Shattered Shop has very few good deals, the best ones being Expedition Dice, Awakening Potion/Elixir/Vial, and the Dormant Hourglass. You can also buy Ascend Crests in the early game, though the value isn't that great.
Faction Shop
The Faction Shop has all the heroes in the game, and here, you want to buy only the best ones. Again, check out our Realms of Pixel tier list for the complete rundown. Also, buy only the Advent/Ascension heroes, as those are the hardest to get in the long run.
Ruins Shop
The Ruins Shop contains only one good hero shard, and that's for Aura Knight. Besides her, you should try to get the Disguise Mask, Innocent Verdict, Stellar Tide Scrolls, and Moon Tide Scrolls. If you bought all those out, then Sakura Fox and Immaculate Moon can also be good, depending on your team comp.
Daily Quests & Tasks

Dailies in Realms of Pixel are similar to those of other strategy gachas on mobile, as you basically click out every menu/mode available. Here is a short list of the most essential things you need to do every day:
- Claim Offline Bonuses
- Clear Adventure Stages as much as you can
- Quick Fight at the end of the day (free + gems)
- Buy out all Shops
- Claim all Bonuses
- Astral Tree upgrades and harvests
- Fight in the Arena as much as you can
- Clear out other Star Isle modes
- Complete all events you can
- Participate in Guild activities
How Hero Upstars Work & Which Heroes to Fodder

Star Up is the main hero scaling mechanic in Realms of Pixel. To do it, you'll need duplicates of the hero you want to star-up as well as fodder heroes. Generally, all Epic and Legendary 5✦ heroes except for Mystic Claw and maybe Sakura Blade (if you plan to use her) are fodder.
Also, know that it's relatively safe to star-up heroes up to 6✦, 9✦, and 10✦ as then you can use them as fodder or even use an hourglass to reset them (10✦ required). However, don't star-up heroes above 10✦ unless you plan to use them, as the next reset point is all the way at 13✦, and you won't be able to fodder them.
When to Use Quick Fight

Quick Fighting in Realms of Pixel allows you to get 2 hours' worth of resources instantly. You get one Quick Fight for free, and you can buy two more for 50 gems each. You need to buy as many of these as you can, especially in the early game. It's crucial for increasing your account level and enables you to clear more Adventure Stages.
How Bounty Tasks Work

Bounty Tasks allow you to dispatch your heroes on missions and earn extra resources passively. Generally, it's only worth dispatching on Purple and Orange tasks. You'll get plenty of refreshes as you play, so feel free to use then if you don't get any Purple+ tasks.
Bonuses - Free Resources & Currency

There are plenty of bonuses to claim in Realms of Pixel, and you should revisit that menu often. The only bonus section where you can make a mistake is the Moment of Justice promotion, which is available if you're a new player. Instead of buying Pyro Knight, get all the upgrade resources and summon currency you can. The 5-Star Hero Shard is also a solid option.
Equipment - How to Get It and Upgrade It

The main way you'll get equipment in Realms of Pixel is from Offline Rewards. Do not buy them from any of the shops, especially not with gems. Equip all the best gear you have, and then quick-fuse the rest and repeat. The real value of equipment bonuses will become relevant only after you get full Orange/Red sets (the flat stats aren't that important).
Guilds & Why You Should Join One ASAP

Guilds are fairly important in Realms of Pixel as they require borderline zero investment from your end as a member, and you can get daily rewards and currency to spend in the Guild Shop and get some Red-tier equipment. Just be sure to stay active and contribute daily.
Wishing Pool - How it Works & Where to Get Wishes

There are three Wishing Pools. Each pool uses different currencies, and they can give you amazing rewards. The important thing about the first two pools is to wait for the Daily Refresh and use the FREE Refresh (bottom left) until you get a 5✦ Hero Shard (Star Pool) or a meta 5✦ hero (Moon Pool). Then, you dump all the wishes you have.
The Meteor Pool is always the same, and you should dump your wishes on that one whenever you can. Also, pulling on the Star Pool with the Wish x10 costs less in the long run, so don't ever use Wish x1.
And that concludes our Realms of Pixel beginner's guide. All that knowledge should help you go from noob to pro in as little time as possible and with minimum resources wasted.
