How to Drop the Flag and Ball in Halo Infinite Multiplayer

Defend yourself.

When you're in the middle of a match and your teammates aren't around to protect you, sometimes you have to drop the flag and eliminate the enemy yourself. What you'll quickly realize, though, is that there is no direct way to do that. You might end up fumbling through several buttons on your controller or keyboard, only to find out there was a simpler way to do it the whole time.

To drop the flag (or the ball, if you're playing Oddball), you can simply press the button you would press to switch your weapon. This might depend on if you change your layout, but here are the default keys to switch your weapon for each system.

  • PC: Scroll Mouse Wheel Up or Down
  • Xbox Controller: Y

Once you switch weapons, the flag is automatically dropped on the ground and you can start firing at the enemy. Just be sure not to leave it on the ground too long, or it will return to the base!
