Best Shaman Decks for Scholomance – Standard & Wild!

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Shaman is a class that is quite versatile, and has seen bouts of aggro, midrange, and control decks be popular in it. The class has had many spans of dominance, with a variety of decks that have warped the meta! We're taking a look at the best Shaman decks you'll be able to play with in the Scholomance Academy expansion. The class got some particularly interesting stuff to play with, especially due to the fact that is paired up with Druid as a dual-class. That means there's likely going to be some new options to bring into the Standard or Wild ladder!

Shaman for a while was a class like Priest that didn't have much way to shine. However, once the early days were over, Shaman had multiple instances of being super dominant. There's one meta in particular where the class had two different decks that were dominant on the ladder. Blizzard let this go on for a long while, and only nerfed them after a long reign of terror at the top. More recently they were stomping through people with a super powerful Galakrond deck, which had to be nerfed almost immediately. The class got back under control after the balance, and finds itself in a reasonably good position to make some moves in the next meta.

Best Shaman Decks for Scholomance Standard

The best deck for Shaman in the Scholomance meta right now are Totem Shaman! The deck was powerful previously, and is only likely going to get strong now that it has received some additional cards in the new expansion to make it better.

Crane333's Totem Shaman Deck

Totem Shaman is already a solid deck, so adding additional cards to it should make it even better. Tour Guide is a standout for it, and will be a card that likely will set the tone for matches if you have it in your opening hand. Trick Totem is an interesting addition, it's going to be very hit or miss, but could be very beneficial to you. Finally, there's Totem Goliath who will provide a mid-game opportunity to load up the board with totems which you can hopefully use to overrun your opponent!

Spell Damage Shaman Deck

Spellburst is one of the new mechanics from Scholomance Academy. If the card is on the board, it will trigger its description when you cast a spell. It is only triggered after the first spell you cast with it on the board, so make sure to take advantage of it when it will be most beneficial for you. This deck utilizes some of the cards from that new keyword, but focuses mainly on Spell Damage. This is a style of deck that has been flirted with before, but never panned out in the past.

Scholomance is now here and bringing some additional cards to the archetype. Primordial Studies gives you a way to find a Spell Damage card where you might be lacking. Rune Dagger is a pretty solid way to give yourself Spell Damage when you need it, and Squallhunter is a high stat card that will be a solid 4-drop for the deck!

Best Shaman Decks for Scholomance Wild

Wild can be a bit difficult to predict, so here's a look at some decks that have been successful on the Wild ladder. You will find that the meta of Wild doesn't fluctuate as much as Standard does when a new expansion is released. This generally only happens if one Standard deck in particular is very dominant. Normally, you will notice that just the most powerful cards out of the set find their way into decks.
