There are so many chests full of excellent loot and gear for you to claim. However, carrying all that valuable gear can be a bit difficult if you don't have the extra gear slots. You don't want to miss out on opening a chest due to full-up space, so here is a way you can avoid leaving any chests behind by making some space directly from your gear menu.
How to make room in your inventory in Hogwarts Legacy
The best way to make sure you have room for the gear you find in chests is always to make sure to take a trip to Hogsmeade and sell them for some Galleons. However, if you're in a middle of a quest or task and don't have the time, there is a quick way to bypass this and clear up a little bit of room.

Open your Gear menu and hover over any items you currently have. It's best to do this on items no longer needed, with less helpful stats or lower levels. You'll notice a Destroy button beside the Equip button on the item. You can instantly remove the item from your inventory by pressing the Left stick of your controlling down and confirming your choice. This will open up some free space for opening new chests, but you won't receive the sell value of the object, and there is no getting it back after you destroy it.
This a quick method to free up space, but you'll want to try to make some trips to Hogsmeade for those extra Galleons instead or complete some of the Merlin Trials to gain more space.
