Honkai: Star Rail jingliu character drip marketing art

Should you pull for Jingliu in Honkai Star Rail?

Most of all, she's a waifu!

Jingliu is a five-star Ice character who follows the Path of Destruction. Once a renowned sword master in The Xianzhou Luofu with unparalleled power, she eventually succumbed to the effects of Mara and went on a rampage in Starskiff Haven, before being quelled by her pupil Jing Yuan. Jingliu was released as a playable character in the first half of the Version 1.4 update, playing the role of a hypercarry main DPS with self-buffing abilities and a free-to-play-friendly build.

Is Jingliu worth pulling for in Honkai Star Rail?

Jingliu's abilities rely on building stacks of Syzygy through her Skill, Ultimate, and Technique. Upon building two stacks of Syzygy, she enters the Spectral Transmigration state, where she gains an Advanced Forward boost and a significant ATK and CRIT Rate buff. There are two things to keep in mind with Special Transmigration.

First, the CRIT Rate buff offers a 40% to 50% increase depending on Talent level, significantly decreasing the amount of CRIT Rate you need to generate through Relics. As a result, Jingliu's stat requirements are a lot easier to manage, allowing you to focus on building CRIT DMG through main stats while making up for the remainder of her CRIT Rate with lucky substat rolls.

Second, the ATK boost comes with a quirk. Jingliu absorbs 4% of her allies' max HP to increase her ATK based on 540% of the allies' total max HP (with a maximum increase of 180% of her base ATK). It means the team (not including Jingliu) would need around 10,500 combined HP to maximize Jingliu's ATK buff. You would also have to slot in strong survivability supports to manage the constant cycle of HP reduction.

With that said, I would recommend investing in a strong healer, such as Luocha and Bailu, as well as an all-around survivability support like Fu Xuan to pair with Jingliu. Otherwise, it might be tricky to keep the entire team alive in difficult battles, especially when you're triggering Special Transmigration with Advanced Forward buffs.

Overall, I highly recommend pulling for Jingliu as she's a powerful, fuss-free DPS who's easy to use and build. Her team compositions are also fairly simple, only needing Abundance/Preservation and Harmony supports for survivability and buffing, as she can carry the entire team's damage output. As of Version 1.4, Jingliu is one of very few Ice units and is objectively more powerful than Yanqing, so she's worth getting even if you already have the latter.
