What are Planar Ornaments in Honkai Star Rail? – how to unlock and farm

Level up those Relics Trailblazers!

There is a lot to learn in Honkai Star Rail, especially for those who haven't played Genshin Impact. Players have to keep track of lots of different stats, skills, light cones, techniques, traces, and more. Planar Ornaments represent one collectible of note. Here is a simplified version of what they are and why players need them.

Honkai Star Rail Planar Ornaments - What are they & how to unlock them

Planar Ornaments are part of Relics in Honkai Star Rail. Like in most other RPGs, Relics are this game's version of equipment. Each Relic has a set for six slots:

  • Head
  • Body
  • Hands
  • Feet
  • Planar Sphere
  • Link Robe

For the last two slots (Planar Sphere and Link Robe), players need to equip Planar Ornaments. They all give various boosts, including HP, ATK, DEF, and all of the elemental proficiencies (Fire, Wind, Ice, Lightning, Physical, Quantum, and Imaginary).

How to farm Planar Ornaments in Honkai Star Rail

To farm Planar Ornaments, players need to explore the Simulated Universe. This is the odd area that Herta shows the player shortly after defeating the game's first boss. Within the Simulated Universe are bosses that will drop Planar Ornaments once defeated.

I didn't get access to Planar Ornaments until Trailblazer level 30 (right after I finished the content on Jarilo VI). Around this point in the game, players will definitely want to have their ordinary relics powered up a bit. Their main team should also be around level 35, which is a good level to defeat Simulated Universe World 2 with.

If some of the normal game content is too difficult, I recommend spending some time in the Simulated Universe, as it's a brilliant way to grind EXP and power up your Relics with Planar Ornaments. All of these are just different ways to increase character stats.
