Horizon Forbidden West will feature some of the core mechanics established in Zero Dawn which helps Aloy traverse across tricky areas on the map. Climbing is one of these features, and it has improved significantly in Forbidden West.
Players can head over to the accessibility tab and switch on Climbing Annotations. This setting automatically shows the yellow lines on a surface which Aloy can grab onto. Climbing up or down in Horizon Forbidden West is simple enough, as players will need to locate these yellow lines and x marks to plan their path. Similarly, the game will automatically prompt when Aloy is close to a ledge, and players can drop down by pressing the Square button.

In Zero Dawn, Climbing was more or less restricted as players had to follow a linear path for going up or down. However, in Horizon Forbidden West the yellow lines and X marks on mountains and tall objects allow players to be creative with their movement.
Players can also use Aloy's focus by pressing R3 to reveal these Climbing spots in-game. Climbing up to a vantage point can be crucial during fighting multiple opponents. Make sure to scan areas thoroughly to reveal all the yellow lines and x marks to Climb up or down.
