In order to dye your outfits, you will need to find a Dyer and supply them with the appropriate dye plants and metal shards that can be found in the open world. Each time you change a dye color you will incur a cost, even if you're changing the color back to a previous design. A trophy will unlock the first time you use a Dyer to change the Dye on an outfit.

Where do you find a Dyer?

Locating a Dyer will take some time. The first Dyer you will find is Gana in Plainsong. She is located in the west of the city near the stitcher. The Dyer icon is a mortal and pestle and will show on the map when you are in close proximity.

You will find the Dye merchant in Plainsong before meeting Varl and Zo outside the Chorus in the main quest The Dying Lands. If you speak to Varl to carry on the quest, the Dye merchant will be locked until after completing the main quest The Sea of Sands.
