How to defeat Corrupted Adria in Kena – Corrupted Woodsmith Boss Guide

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of 2021’s most beautiful releases. Ember Labs’s first title is an impressive first outing as a game studio for many reasons. One of the most surprising things about Kena is the difficulty. Enemies hit hard, and bosses are sure to give even season players a challenge, especially the Corrupted Woodsmith.

Follow the guide below to learn the tricks and attacks at the Corrupt Woodsmith’s disposal, as this is one of the game’s most challenging boss encounters:

• Phase One
  • The Corrupted Woodsmith spawns with a large wooden mallet that she swings at Kena as soon as the fight begins. She’s quick, so be ready to doge as soon as the fight starts.
  • The Woodsmith is invulnerable while she’s tethered to the pillar in the center of the room, so players will have to destroy it to break the boss’s shield. Toss a bomb at the pillar and detonate it to open the pillar.
  • Watch out for the core’s shockwave attack it sends out once it’s broken. Get airborne to avoid taking damage.
  • Use the bow to shoot the core three times to detonate it and stun the Woodsmith. Jump in the air to slow time and make this hitting your target easier.
  • Try to avoid damage using the healing flowers in the first phase, saving them for phase two.
  • Attack the Woodsmith while she’s down with Rot attacks to inflict significant damage, but make sure to hop away after she stands up. Standing too close to her once she hops up, as this damages Kena.
  • After she’s back up, get ready to dodge, the Woodsmith goes on the offensive, heading to the center and striking the center pillar repeatedly to send shockwaves out and rain fireballs down. Hop to avoid the shockwaves from the pillar and be wary of the fireballs raining from above, as they leave shockwaves of their own.
  • After the pillar repairs itself, several minions spawn. Take them out for easy Rot energy. Save Rot energy for attacks on the boss when she’s stunned. You want to deal as much damage as possible during the first phase when there’s less to worry about.
  • Continue breaking the pillar in the center of the stage, using Rot energy to wound the boss while she’s stunned. After Kena breaks the pillar for the third time, it will break for good, triggering the second phase.

• Phase Two
  • The Woodsmith will break her hammer in two and grab a sword at the beggining of this phase. This new weapon combo will expand her offensive capabilities, so be prepared for a more aggressive encounter going forward with several new attacks.
  • Corrupted Woodsmith now tosses her flaming sword at Kena from a distance intermittently, watch out for her wind up animation indicating that the blade is coming.
  • The Woodsmith also hops up and slams her sword down into the ground, sending out a large shockwave. Get some distance when the Woodsmith uses this attack.
  • The Corrupted Woodsmith new combo has her swing her sword multiple times before before slamming her hammer on the ground for a smaller shockwave.
  • While the Woodsmith has more offensive power in the second phase, she has no shield to protect her from damage, meaning Kena can hurt her at any time.
  • Take advantage of this by tossing a bomb at the Woodsmith while she’s preoccupied and detonating it. Once she’s stunned, the golden crystal in her chest becomes exposed as a result. Shoot it three times to inflict a large amount of damage to the Woodsmith.
  • Occasionally, the Woodsmith returns to the center of the stage and strikes the bit four times to send out more shockwaves. The fourth hit also sends fireballs flying while minions spawn. Take out the minions to get some Rot energy and hit the boss as soon as they’re down. With no shield to defend her, the Woodsmith is vulnerable even at the cauldron. Use Rot Abilities as much as possible, as they offer the most damage for the least amount of risk.
  • Try to parry the Woodsmith’s close range attacks to stun her and deal easy damage.
  • Use the flowers to heal as needed during the second phase, repeating the aforementioned strategies to take the boss down and free Adria’s spirit from corruption.
