Although Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix isn't exactly short on bosses, the game still finds a few ways to embed the odd secret here and there. Fortunately, there are only three secret bosses outside of the main story, all of which drop large amounts of EXP and a some rare items, depending on the accessories your party has equipped.
A word of advice: you'll probably want to reach level 70 (minimum) before stepping up to face off with the three hidden bosses. Failure to meet the minimum level, as well as equipping all the essential stat boosting items will likely result in a slew of Game Over screens. So, be sure to hit the grind before setting out.
All Secret Bosses
The Phantom
- Location: After sealing the keyhole in Hollow Bastion, go to the Clock Tower in Neverland. To initiate the battle, put Peter Pan in your party, and then speak to Tinkerbell.
- Stats: 1,200 HP, 42 Strength, 34 Defense
- Reward: 9,999 XP
- Suggested Level: 70 or higher
- Strategy: The Phantom can be a bit threatening, meaning patience is key. Having abilities such as MP Haste can prove useful here, as The Phantom has the power to deplete your MP gauge using its four color-coded rings.
Before talking to Tinkerbell, be sure to max out your items with Mega-Ethers and Mega-Potions. Also, be sure to set Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Firaga to your shortcuts, as each will play a key role in bringing down The Phantom. Owning the Ultima Weapon is also essential; you'll need it to inflict damage during the battle.
The Phantom shows four color-coded orbs during the battle, all of which need to be countered using the appropriate magic spells. Counter blue with Blizzaga, red with Firaga, yellow with Thundaga, and then white with the Ultima Weapon.
During the battle, The Phantom will cast a spell on the clock tower, effectively putting a countdown over one of your heads. Once the countdown reaches zero, all health will be depleted, and the clock will reset before moving over to another party member. To stop this, be sure to cast Stopra on the clock every so often.
Tinkerbell can be useful as a Summon, as she can revive a downed member should you succumb to the countdown. Other than that, be sure to remain locked on to The Phantom, circle the clock tower if you're needing to cast Curaga, and use MP items to keep your gauge stocked up.
Kurt Zisa
- Location: After sealing the keyhole in Hollow Bastion, return to Aladdin's House in Agrabah. Speak to Magic Carpet, and it will fly you out to the desert, where you will face off with Kurt Zisa.
- Stats: 1,500 HP, 42 Strength, 24 Defense
- Reward: 20,000 XP
- Suggested Level: 75 or higher
- Strategy: On the surface, Kurt Zisa isn't all that different from most bosses in the main story. When prompted, Sora will need to cast certain magic spells to bring down a line of defense, and then use physical attacks to crush the enemy HP. The same goes for Agrabah's secret boss, although it is a lot harder than your run-of-the-mill Heartless.
Before speaking to Magic Carpet in Aladdin's House, be sure to stock up on Megalixirs, as these will help keep both HP and MP up during the battle. Also, make sure to have Thundaga, Aeroga, and Curaga fixed to your magic shortcuts. The Ultima Weapon is also strongly recommended for dealing heavy amounts of damage.
During the battle, you will need to destroy the two orbs in Kurt Zisa's hands. Once destroyed, spam the attack button and lay down as many attacks with the Ultima Weapon as possible. After Zisa recovers, he will use a magical barrier, which you can counter with Thundaga. Again, spam the attack button, rinse and repeat the cycle, and you should be able to finish the battle before the third or fourth wave begins.

The Unknown
- Location: After completing the Final Dimension at the End of the World, return to the Castle Chapel in Hollow Bastion. Enter the dark portal, and you will be confronted by The Unknown, also known as Xemnas.
- Stats: 1,500 HP, 46 Strength, 46 Defense
- Reward: 12,000 XP
- Suggested Level: 80 or higher
- Strategy: Similar to The Phantom and Kurt Zisa, you will need to stock up on Megalixirs and Mega-Potions before entering the dark portal within the Castle Chapel of Hollow Bastion. Having abilities such as Areoga and Curaga will also come in handy for this bout.
Xemnas is possibly the toughest boss battle in the whole of Kingdom Hearts, even putting the likes of Sephiroth to shame. He is lightning quick and can deal massive amounts of damage in one swift move if you're not fast enough to dodge or counter his attempts. So, be sure to either Guard, Dodge Roll, or Glide to avoid being wiped out.
To deal damage, you will need to get behind Xemnas, which can often prove a major challenge considering how fast he can be. Using a combination of abilities to avoid his attacks and moving around the map, however, presents you with opportunities to land a few strikes. The Ultima Weapon is the best choice for dealing large amounts of damage.
At certain points during the battle, Xemnas will cast a shock spell, which you need to escape from before tapping out. In your commands, you will need to scroll down and hit Release. Failing to do so will result in an immediate Game Over. A word of advice: be sure to save your game before entering the battle.
