How to cure the Petrified Girl in Lords of the Fallen

Whose humming in the middle of the swamp?

Despite being a linear map, I've come across plenty of interesting paths and objects in the world of Lords of the Fallen, from red butterfly lanterns to hidden loot and other terrifying monsters. You can also happen upon some mini-quests as you continue your journey, like the mysterious Petrified Girl. Figuring out what needs to be done to help the girl isn't too obvious, but you can pick up some nice rewards for doing so, so keep reading below for all the details!

The Petrified Girl can be found as you venture into the Forsaken Fen swamps just after battling the Congregator of Flesh. In one of the central areas of the swamps where you'll see a large bonfire in the center, you'll hear her hums leading you to her little cave. You'll need to break through the door/vines blocking the entrance, after which you can speak to her.

She will tell you how she came to be petrified and ask for your assistance in helping her get out of it. However, she won't tell you exactly how to do so. It is rather simple if you have what you need—the Sanctify spell. To cure her from the stone, you'll need to use the healing spell Sanctify on her. If you don't have it already, keep reading to learn how you can get it.

How to get the Sanctify spell in Lords of the Fallen

The Sanctify can be looted from a chest at the Skyrest Bridge. You can easily get back there by using a Shrine and teleporting to the Skyrest Bridge Vestige. You'll want to make your way back toward the battleground where you fought the boss, Pieta.

At the Skyrest Bridge Vestige Shrine, head straight forward all the way down the corridor until you get to the large staircase. Ascend the staircase and enter the doorway on the left side that will lead you back into the tower. In the tower, you'll want to keep going up all the stairs until you reach the top, where the chest will be waiting.

Once you get Sanctify, you will only be able to use it if you have a Radiance of 18 or higher and have a Catalyst. You may have already picked a Catalyst up on your way through; if not, you can purchase one in the Skyrest Bridge from the Molhu NPC using your Vigor points. It also means you may have to do a bit of level grinding before continuing to help the Petrified Girl. You can do this rather easily by fighting as many enemies as you can, ensuring you pick the Vigor and don't lose it. When you have the proper Radiance and a Catalyst, you'll want to equip the Catalyst in your ranged-weapon slot and the spell into one of your arrow slots, then head back to the Petrified Girl's cave.

Once you get to her, use the spell by pressing the same buttons you usually do for your lantern or crossbow. You'll want to make sure you're close enough to her so the spell is placed on the ground underneath her. This is an AoE healing spell, so she must be inside of it to get the effects. As it starts healing, she will be cured of the petrification, and you can speak to her again.

To finish off the quest, the woman will ask you to rest for a day and then come back to her. This means you'll need to head back to a Vestige. Thankfully, rather than trekking all the way back through the swamp, you can walk out of her cave and plant a Vestige Seedling right in the flower patch outside. After resting, speak to her once more, and she'll thank you for your help and leave the area.

Now that she is no longer in the cave, you will have access to the loot item that was behind her. This is Wilmarc's Catalyst, which allows you to have four spell slots—an improvement over the starter Catalyst you were probably using before and well worth having for increasing your spell power.
