Medieval Dynasty combat, explained

This is supposed to be a peaceful game, why would you want combat from it?

Medieval Dynasty is a management simulator set in the medieval era, where you can build and expand your town. The developers added bandits into the game to spice up the gameplay, bringing more combat into Medieval Dynasty.

Although the developers initially provided a peaceful environment for players so they could focus on the simulation aspect of the game, players demanded more combat encounters within the game. Keep reading below to know more about Medieval Dynasty's combat.

Is there combat in Medieval Dynasty?

The short answer is yes, combat is available in Medieval Dynasty. However, don't expect a complex combat system like in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Medieval Dynasty offers a soft combat experience in the form of wildlife and bandits.

You can encounter both naturally while exploring the map, with the exception of bandits as they spawn in specific places (i.e. camps with fire). Wildlife animals like wolves and human NPCs like bandits are hostile NPCs and will automatically attack you if you get in their line of sight.

What weapons can you use in Medieval Dynasty?

You have two options to dispose of these hostile NPCs: melee and ranged combat. For melee weapons, you have the typical Spear-type weapons and Cudgels, which you can use in close-quarter combat. Here are all melee weapons in Medieval Dynasty:

  • Wooden Spear
  • Stone Spear
  • Copper Spear
  • Bronze Spear
  • Iron Spear
  • Cudgel
  • Iron-Spiked Cudgel

These weapons are easy to use and only require you to press the attack button in front of the enemy to damage them. These are great if wolves or bandits ambush you and are already within your melee range.

On the other hand, you have ranged weapons, which include the following:

  • Bow
  • Recurve Bow
  • Longbow
  • Wooden Crossbow
  • Iron Crossbow
  • Throwing Stone

If you're able to scout a bandit camp, ranged weapons are useful to pick them off one by one. If you're all out of arrows, you can opt to throw stones instead at the expense of dealing much lesser damage. I recommend you scout bandits ahead of time so they don't attack your village, after which you'll be able to farm money from their camp. Lastly, use roads while traveling to avoid getting ambushed by wolves.
