While Amog and his weapon are slow starters, he is excellent for damage-over-time and poison-based gameplay. The first few minutes are punishing, but once you get a decent second weapon and a few upgrades on his starter weapon (Poison Flask), things become a lot easier. Below you’ll find three Amog builds that you can try if you want to get the best out of him and his weapon.
Best Amog Builds in Megabonk
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a veteran Bonker struggling with Amog, these builds will help. We’ve created a beginner-friendly build that increases Amog’s survivability while also scaling his damage. There’s a poison-based crit build as well as a pure DPS build, too. You can easily pivot between the three depending on the Weapons, Tomes, and Items you get early.
Build 1 - Poison Chain
The first build is Amog’s best build in the current meta. By targeting Amog’s passive, this build creates a poison chain that can cause DoT to hordes of enemies.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Poison Flask Black Hole Aura Lightning Staff/Revolver/Bone | Duration Tome Quantity Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome | Moldy Cheese Gas Mask Gym Sauce Oats Medkit Battery Moldy Gloves Toxic Barrel Demonic Soul |
Why It Works: Poison Flask and Black Hole are the two core weapons of this build. If you can’t get Black Hole before the second swarm hits, you might want to switch to another build. The same goes for the Duration Tome. These three things combined will trap and poison enemies.
Thanks to Amog’s passive, every enemy that explodes will poison the next, creating a chain that clears swarms while you collect the XP shards. Items like the Moldy Cheese, Moldy Gloves, and Toxic Barrel are extra sources of poison damage that will boost the chain.
Aura is a support weapon only, used for faster XP gain early on and as an added layer of protection later on when faster enemies start spawning. Ranged weapons like the Lightning Staff or Revolver are for the bosses. They’ll scale with the same tomes (Cooldown and Quantity) while Modly Cheese will make sure you can poison bosses even if the Poison Flask won’t reach.

Build 2 - Poisonous Crit
If you see the Precision Tome and Forbidden Juice/Giant Fork early, go for this build. This build transforms the poison chain into a crit chain using slightly different Tomes, Items, and Weapons.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Poison Flask Dice/Katana Revolver Aura/Aegis | Precision Tome Damage Tome Quantity Tome Cooldown Tome | Forbidden Juice Giant Fork Gym Sauce Moldy Cheese Grandma’s Secret Tonic Gas Mask Moldy Gloves Demonic Blade Power Gloves Toxic Barrel Demonic Soul |
Why It Works: Precision Tome over the Duration Tome and crit-based weapons over AoE weapons- those are the two major differences in Build 1 and 2. However, with these tweaks, Amog transforms into a crit-machine.
The poison chain, although triggered less with this build, still works and lands critical hits. Each of those hits also provides Lifesteal if you get items like the Demonic Blade and Gas Mask.
You must get at least two out of the three crit-based weapons listed in the table above (Dice, Katana, and Revolver). After that, it’s all about boosting your tomes, as every weapon synergizes with the selected tomes. The list of items is pretty similar to Build 1 as well because this build also relies on poison DoT and its multiple hits to increase crit chance.
Build 3 - Toxic Tank
This is a beginner-friendly Amog build that massively improves his survivability by sacrificing some DPS.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Poison Flask Blood Magic Aura/Lightning Staff Revolver/Katana/Dice | Regen Tome Armor/Shield/XP Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome | Chonkplate Holy Book Gas Mask Demonic Blood Slurp Gloves Mirror Oats Medkit Gym Sauce Moldy Cheese Toxic Barrel |
Why It Works: With Blood Magic’s +1 HP passive and Items like Oats, Holy Book, and Chonkplate, Amog’s survivability increases. Aura makes sure you’re scaling quickly and not reliant solely on Poison Flask early on. If you can’t get Aura early, Lightning Staff or Flamewalker are good alternates.
Shield or Armor Tome is optional here. You can also pick up the XP Tome to speed up your progress.
The third and fourth weapons will be your main DPS weapons. We’ve suggested ranged weapons so you can take care of the bosses without getting too close. Moldy Cheese will add the touch of poison to your ranged weapons, so stack at least 3 using the ovens or by opening chests.
This isn’t a ‘god run’ build, but you can clear multiple stages with this build, with a little bit of luck on your side.
Amog Starter Weapon and Passive

Amog’s starter weapon is the Poison Flask, which unlocks after you kill Scorpionussy 3 times in the Desert. It’s a short-range weapon that infects enemies with poison to deal damage over time. Projectile Count, Size, and Duration upgrades will improve Poison Flask.
Strengths | Weaknesses | Passive |
---|---|---|
Good crowd control: Poison Flask can damage hordes of enemies. Excellent late-game scaling: After surviving the punishing start, Amog becomes a poison nuke later on. | Weak early game: Low HP and a slow weapon make things slow and difficult early on. | Poisoned enemies explode on death, poisoning nearby enemies. |
Megabonk Amog FAQs
To unlock Amog in Megabonk, you need to complete two objectives: poison 50,000 enemies with the Moldy Cheese and get the Poison Flask by killing the Scorpionussy mini-boss in Desert three times.
Quantity, Cooldown, and Duration Tome directly synergize with Amog’s signature weapon and are naturally the best choices for Amog. Damage Tome will also massively improve Poison Flask’s damage.
Weapons that can hit multiple enemies to create a poison chain work best with Amog. Lightning Staff, Aura, and Revolver all work well with him. Black Hole is another good option if you are going for an area-controlling build.
All poison-based Items synergize very well with Amog. Moldy Cheese, Toxic Barrel, Gas Mask, and Moldy Gloves are the meta items for Amog in Megabonk. Other items like Chonkplate and Demonic Blade can also be good in situational builds.
