Updated builds for Megachad, Ninja, and Robinnette according to the latest meta.
The sheer number of Characters, Weapons, Items, and Tomes in Megabonk allows you to create all sorts of character builds. But if you’ve done your fair share of experimenting and still can’t make it past the first swarm, try some of the best Megabonk builds. These will not only get you past the swarms but also help you climb up the leaderboard. So, let’s get straight to it!
Best Builds for Every Character in Megabonk
Every character in Megabonk has one starter weapon and one passive skill. To create the best build, focus on that character’s starter weapon and skill, and choose upgrades that synergize with them the best. That said, some characters do shine with unorthodox builds, and you’ll see exactly which ones as you read on.
We've added the best Weapons and Tomes are written in a descending order. So, if you haven’t unlocked more slots, prioritize the top spots. If you're yet to unlock a suggested weapon, try the bottom ones. Picking the right character will also help you complete challenges more easily.
We're creating unique builds, moving away from the game-breaking XP + Curse + Luck combo. This guide is a work-in-progress. If you don't find the character build you're after, make sure to check back later.
| Character | Build | Reason |
|---|---|---|
![]() Mr Fox Starter Weapon: Firestaff Passive: RNG Blessing - Gain 1% Luck per level. | Weapon 2: Lightning Staff Weapon 3: Bananarang Weapon 4: Aura/Aegis Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: XP Tome Items: Clover, Moldy Cheese, Credit Card (Green), Dragonfire, Time Bracelet, Gym Sauce | - Firestaff, Lightning Staff, and Bananarang synergize well with Quantity, and Aura just gets better and better with every Damage Tome level up, massively scaling Mr Fox’s damage output. - Clover and Credit Card (Green), along with Mr Fox’s RNG Blessing, will max out your luck quickly, so you get better items from chests, shrines, and vendors. - Cooldown Tome is a must to increase the projectiles of all weapons and create an ever-present shield. Items like Backpack and +1 Projectile stat from Charge Shrines will help further. - You can check out even more Mr Fox builds here! |
![]() Sir Oofie Starter Weapon: Sword Passive: Reinforced - Gain 1% Armor per level. | Weapon 2: Lightning Staff/Firestaff Weapon 3: Aura Weapon 4: Bone Tome 1: Attack Speed Tome Tome 2: Agility Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: HP Tome/Armor Tome Items: Gym Sauce, Oats, Beefy Ring, Spiky Shield | - This build goes all in on the tankiness of Sir Oofie while boosting his attack and improving movement for early-run farming. - Lightning or Firestaff will add ranged attacks to take care of elites and mini-bosses.- Aura and Sword (sped up with the Attack Speed Tome) will make light work of hordes and bosses. - HP Tome scales the armor, making you almost invincible against normal enemies. - For the final stretch, give another boost to your armor with the HP Tome or the Armor Tome and keep upgrading the Agility Tome. - More best Sir Oofie builds can be found here. |
![]() Calcium Starter Weapon: Bone Passive: Speed Demon - Speed builds up over time, but is halved when you take damage. Also, gain damage based on speed. | Weapon 2: Revolver Weapon 3: Flamewalker Weapon 4: Bow Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Attack Speed Tome Tome 3: Movement Speed Tome Tome 4: Damage Tome Items: Turbo Socks, Turbo Skates, Slippery Ring, Phantom Shroud | - Calcium’s damage scales with his movement speed, so his best build is based on mobility and keeping his distance from enemies. - Bone and Revolver are both potent, ranged weapons that can take care of normal enemies, Elites, and Bosses from a distance, minimizing damage to Calcium. - Start focusing on Quantity and Attack Speed Tomes early on to scale damage faster. - Items like Turbo Socks and Skates will synergize with Calcium’s passive, increasing movement speed and damage output as well. - Flamewalker adds a nice passive attack that scales with the constant movement. - More Calcium builds for you! |
![]() Megachad Starter Weapon: Aura Passive: Flex - Stops damage and stuns enemies. Decreases cooldown by 0.2 per level. | Weapon 2: Aegis Weapon 3: Revolver Weapon 4: Bananarang Tome 1: Size Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Cooldown Tome Items: Idle Juice, Gym Sauce, Moldy Cheese, Mirror, Boss Buster, Big Bonk, Campfire, Battery, Oats, Medkit, Brass Knuckles, Backpack, Beefy Ring, Demonic Soul, Holy Book, Dragonfire, Anvil, Soul Harvester, Chonkplate | - This build relies on a mix of Ranged and Melee weapons to turn Megachad into a Tank x DPS hybrid. - Aura's 360-degree attacks are perfect to clear swarms with ease. Aegis will protect you from any enemies that break through. Both these weapons scale with Damage, Quantity, and Cooldown Tomes. The Size Tome won't improve Aeigs too much, but it makes Aura OP. - Bananarang will also scale with all four Tomes. You'll soon be running the Banana Tornado that kills enemies and stops them from getting anywhere near you. (a superb strategy to run with Monke as well). - Items that increase damage (Gym Sauce, Idle Juice, Brass Knuckles, and more) are all excellent for this build. From the Legendaries, look for the Anvil, Holy Book, and Soul Harvester. Chonkplate is also good. - Mega builds for Megachad on PGG! |
![]() Ogre Starter Weapon: Axe Passive: Warrior - Gain 1% damage per level. | Weapon 2: Sword Weapon 3: Aura Weapon 4: Bananarang Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Cooldown Tome/Duration Tome Tome 3: Damage Tome Tome 4: XP Tome Items: Gym Sauce, Moldy Cheese, Time Bracelet, Turbo Skates, Turbo Socks | - One of the slowest characters in the game, especially early on. Even slower than Sir Oofie. Axes won’t deal much damage due to low projectile count, so grab Aura as soon as possible to start earning some XP and Gold. - A ranged weapon that scales with Ogre’s passive will be a game-changer. - Quantity and Cooldown Tomes will massively improve the damage output of Axe and any secondary weapons that you choose. - Gym Sauce will speed up his damage scaling, so pick it up as soon as you can. - The listed items will also cover another one of his major weaknesses- movement. - You can also check out more of our Ogre builds. |
![]() CL4NK Starter Weapon: Revolver Passive: Crit Happens - Gain 1% Crit Chance per level. | Weapon 2: Bone Weapon 3: Bananrange Weapon 4: Aura Tome 1: Precision Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Cooldown Tome Items: Gym Sauce, Turbo Socks, Forbidden Juice, Giant Fork, Joe’s Dagger, Oats, Medkit, Holy Book, Backpack, Boss Buster | - CL4NK is one of the best ranged characters in Megabonk, but is clunky and has the lowest HP. However, a Crit-based build covers almost all the cracks. - Quantity and Damage Tome will take care of weapons scaling, while Precision Tome increases Crit chances and damage of the Revolver. - Once this build is in full flow, very few enemies will break through the projectiles. Those who do will be taken care of by Aura. - Use Items and Charge Shrines to improve Shield, Armor, and increase max HP so you can survive bosses in later stages. - If that's not enough, you can check out even more Megabonk CL4NK builds. |
![]() Athena Starter Weapon: Aegis Passive: Lock In - Deal more damage on lower HP. Gains 1 Thorn per level. | Weapon 2: Aura Weapon 3: Sword/Axe Weapon 4: Revolver Tome 1: Thorns Tome Tome 2: Quantity Tome Tome 3: Damage Tome Tome 4: Armor Tome/XP Tome Items: Battery, Kevin, Mirror, Borgar, Clover, Time Bracelet, Oats, Gym Sauce, Spiky Shield, Quin's Mask, Cactus | - Athena's starter weapon and passive make things slow and difficult early on. If you don't get a decent damage-dealing weapon early, you'll spend most of the early game running around and trying to survive. - Her damage scales as her HP goes down, so it's best to leave Shield and HP Tomes on the table and instead focus on Attack Speed and Projectile Count. To prepare for the late game, get the XP Tome in slot 4 for faster scaling. - Athena might be the only character who benefits from Kevin due to her damage scaling with low HP. Other items that can scale damage and regenerate HP when needed are also a good fit for Athena. Remember, ensure survival early on so you can thrive later. - Athena builds galore! |
![]() Robinette Starter Weapon: Bow Passive: Stonks - Gain +1% gold per level. Damage increases with total gold in inventory. | Weapon 2: Aura Weapon 3: Bananrang/Dice Weapon 4: Firestaff Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: Golden Tome Items: Battery, Golden Shield, Gym Sauce, Beefy Ring, Spicy Meatball | - Robinette's damage scales as you earn and stock up on gold. That's why, early on, you only need to focus on increasing the number of projectiles. - The Bow and Dice/Bananarang will create a long-ranged build, while Aura will protect from enemies that survive the projectiles. - Damage Tome and Cooldown Tome will increase your Attack Speed and Damage with every enemy killed. - Use the charge shrines to boost XP Gain and movement speed. If you don't get these options, Duration and HP Regen are good choices too. - Golden Shield will further boost her damage scaling from gold. Beefy Ring and Gym Sauce will scale her damage, and Battery provides a nice cooldown reduction for all your attacks. - If you're tired of this one, you can try out one of our other Robinette builds. |
![]() Monke Starter Weapon: Bananarang Passive: Monke Grip - Climb up walls. Also, gain +2 Max HP per level. | Weapon 2: Aura Weapon 3: Revolver Weapon 4: Slutty Rocket Tome 1: HP Tome Tome 2: Quantity Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: Size Tome Items: Gym Sauce, Feathers, Credit Card (Red), Beefy Ring, Oats, Medkit, Battery, Boss Buster | - Monke's high jumps and wall climbs make it easy to avoid taking damage. So, this build focuses on dishing it out. - With these weapons, Monke gains close and long-ranged attacks, with the Slutty Rocket and Revolver shining in boss battles. - The Quantity and Size Tome will increase the number of projectiles, improving the DPS of Revolver, Slutty Rocket, and Bananarang. Size Tome will especially benefit Bananarang. - Gym Sauce improves base damage, synergizing well with all the weapons. - The Slutty Rocket is the MVP of this build, making boss fights easier and helping you farm Elite kills for rapid XP gain and treasure chests. - Monke builds here! |
| Tony McZoom Starter Weapon: Wireless Dagger Passive: Zap - Charge an electric attack by moving around. Gain 2% Pickup Range by level. | Weapon 2: Tornado/Slutty Rocket Weapon 3: Lightning Staff/Firestaff Weapon 4: Aegis Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: Luck Tome Items: Clover, Wrench, Time Bracelet, Turbo Socks, Battery, Coward's Cloak, Boss Buster, Moldy Cheese, Beefy Ring. | - Tony McZoom plays like a mix of Monke and Calcium. You get high jumps and good movement speed, but a better starter weapon and passive than both. - Wireless Dagger and Lightning Staff both scale with the Quantity and Damage Tome. Luck Tome makes sure you get the best upgrades and items from shrines in chests. Focus on increasing HP/HP Regen and movement. - Increased pickup range, thanks to his passive, means you'll level up much more quickly. - Check out some more Tony McZoom builds here. |
![]() Bush Starter Weapon: Sniper Rifle Passive: Bullseye - Random enemies are marked, and shooting them causes an explosion that damages enemies nearby. Also, gain +0.5% Crit Damage per level. | Weapon 2: Revolver Weapon 3: Dice Weapon 4: Katana/Bow Tome 1: Precision Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Luck Tome Items: Forbidden Juice, Demonic Blade, Battery, Turbo Socks, Moldy Cheese, Soul Harvester | - Bush is a long-range character, and his weapon and passive are the perfect combo for Crit-based builds. - Dice, Revolver, and other Crit-based weapons synergize superbly with his +0.5% Crit Damage increase per level. - Items like Forbidden Juice and Demonic Blade will further boost his crit abilities and add a lifesteal touch to cover up his low HP. - The usual XP and Luck Tome combo can also work well if you aren't getting the Damage or Quantity Tome as an option. Precision Tome is a must. - More Bush builds. |
Amog Starter Weapon: Poison Flask Passive: Poisoned enemies explode on death, poisoning nearby enemies. | Weapon 2: Black Hole Weapon 3: Aura Weapon 4: Lightning Staff/Revolver Tome 1: Duration Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Cooldown Tome Items: Moldy Cheese, Gas Mask, Moldy Gloves, Gym Sauce, Toxic Barrel, Demonic Soul | - The weapons provide a mix of crowd control, ranged DPS, and melee protection. - Duration Tome will make the Poison Flask's AoE last longer, poisoning more enemies and creating a bigger poison chain. - Quantity and Cooldown Tomes will also improve Poison Flask and other projectile-based weapons used in this build. - Moldy Cheese, Modly Gloves, and Toxic Barrel will further increase the poison release, making Amog a poison nuke in boss fights and swarms. - Gas Mask adds a Lifesteal element to this build to increase survivability. Make sure to pick up HP/HP Regen items and stats from chests and shrines. - Amog builds for more variety. |
Birdo Starter Weapon: Tornado Passive: Hold Jump to float in the air. | Weapon 2: Slutty Rocket Weapon 3: Flamewalker Weapon 4: Mines Tome 1: XP Tome Tome 2: Quantity Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: Size Tome Items: Moldy Cheese, Wrench, Feathers, Slutty Cannon, Gym Sauce, Joe's Dagger, Backpack, Anvil, Demonic Soul, Demonic Blood | - This build relies solely on increasing damage output via an increased number of projectiles and a base damage boost. - Tornado, Slutty Rocket, and Mines will all scale with Quantity Tome and Cooldown Tome, while the XP Tome will speed up progress. - Good positioning and kiting are essential to the success of this build. You must increase jump height and get extra jumps so you can stay in the air longer, away from enemies. - Be wary of Chunkham. He is the only boss who can damage you regardless of your position. - More Birdo builds. |
Noelle Starter Weapon: Frostwalker Passive: Gain +1% Size per level. Also, increase damage per frozen enemies. | Weapon 2: Aura Weapon 3: Lightning Staff (or any other ranged/projectile-based weapon) Weapon 4: Black Hole Tome 1: Size Tome Tome 2: Damage Tome Tome 3: Cooldown Tome Tome 4: Quantity Tome Items: Ice Cube, Ice Crystal, Battery, Beefy Ring, Demonic Soul, Feathers, Boss Buster, Gym Sauce, Oats, Medkit | - Create hordes of enemies using Black Hole, freeze them with Frostwalker, Ice Cube, and Ice Crystal, and let the other weapons finish them off. - Size Tome will increase the area of effect for Aura, Frostwalker, and Black Hole, while the Cooldown Tome increases their attack rate. - The Quantity Tome is for Black Hole and the third weapon you choose. - Ice Cube and Ice Crystal will increase your chances of freezing enemies, which will directly increase Noelle's damage (boost the damage output of all the weapons). - HP and movement boosting items are important for this build's success. Choose similar stats from the Charge Shrines, too. - Check out more Noelle builds. |
![]() Ninja Starter Weapon: Katana Passive: Execute an enemy after evading their attack. Also, gains +0.5% Evasion per level. | Weapon 2: Dexecutioner Weapon 3: Aura Weapon 4: Aegis Tome 1: Quantity Tome Tome 2: Size Tome Tome 3: Damage Tome/Evasion Tome Tome 4: Cooldown Tome Items: Slippery Ring, Phantom Shroud, Joe's Dagger, Turbo Skates, Turbo Socks, Battery, Medkit, Backpack, Feathers, Coward's Cloak | - This build aims to create maximum projectiles for Katana and Dexecutioner with the Quantity Tome and then make them massive with the Size Tome. The Cooldown Tome will make sure that all the projectiles are almost ever present, especially Dexecutioner. - Aura will also scale with Cooldown and Size, covering the entire screen by the time you teleport to stage 2. This will help keep the mobs at bay while your Katana and Dexecutioner take care of the Elites and Bosses that break through. - Ninja's passive won't be that effective in this build, especially late game. So, avoid the Evasion Tome and scale your DPS instead with the Damage Tome. If you do get the Evasion Tome and Joe's Dagger early, go for an execute-focused build and dump the Damage Tome. - Aegis is to turn this glass cannon character into a tank. It'll also scale with Quantity and Size, so you don't really have to invest in its upgrades. - More Ninja Builds to check out. |
Spaceman Starter Weapon: Black Hole Passive: Gain 1% XP Gain per level. | Weapon 2: Dexecutioner Weapon 3: Katana Weapon 4: Bananarang Tome 1: Luck Tome Tome 2: Cursed Tome Tome 3: Size Tome Tome 4: Quantity Tome Items: Anvil, Joe's Dagger, Turbo Skates, Slutty Cannon, Backpack, Battery, Feathers, Gym Sauce, Power Gloves, Time Bracelet | - Spaceman is a one-dimensional character who thrives in crowd control builds. This build uses Black Hole to group enemies and then finish them off with big Dexecutioner, Katana, and Bananarang projectiles. - Size Tome is an important part of this build as it will increase Black Hole's AoE and transform the other weapons from short-range melee to long-range AoE weapons. - Spaceman's passive, mixed with Luck and Cursed Tome, will essentially create the holy trinity build, which can scale this build for the long run. - More Spaceman builds to test. |
Vlad Starter Weapon: Blood Magic Passive: Gain +1% Lifesteal per level. 5% chance per kill to permanently increase Max HP by 1. | Weapon 2: Katana Weapon 3: Flamewalker Weapon 4: Dice/Revolver Tome 1: XP Tome Tome 2: Bloody Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Cooldown Tome Items: Gym Sauce, Moldy Cheese, Feathers, Mirror, Scarf, Backpack, Bloody Cleaver, Chonkplate | - This build relies on Vlad's two passives, amplifying them further using the Bloody Tome and speeding up scaling via the XP Tome. You'll become a life sucking vampire by the time you hit level 20. - Quantity and Cooldown Tome will increase the projectiles and attack speed of all your weapons, speeding up lifesteal and increasing DPS at the same time. - If you stack XP Gain items and stats early, you can also switch the XP Tome for the Size Tome to make the Blood Magic, Katana, and Flamewalker projectiles massive. That'll turn these melee AoE weapons into long-range weapons/shields. - Keeping your distance from enemies is crucial early on. Increase jump height and jump counts every chance you get. - Best Vlad builds. |
![]() Bandit Starter Weapon: Dexecutioner Passive: Gain +1% Attack Speed per level. | Weapon 2: Aura Weapon 3: Revolver Weapon 4: Flamewalker Tome 1: XP Tome Tome 2: Cooldown Tome Tome 3: Quantity Tome Tome 4: Size Tome Items: Joe's Dagger, Overpowered Lamp, Backpack, Battery, Time Bracelet, Gym Sauce, Clover, Turbo Socks | - XP Tome speeds up Bandit's progress, making it less punishing early and snowballing during the late game. - Cooldown Tome and Battery will multiply his passive's effect to increase the attack speed of all weapons. - Aura and Flamewalker add a bit of melee defense and attack, and some crowd control abilities to the build. - Use items to boost movement speed and HP to improve survivability. Lifesteal can also be a good addition to this build, fueling from the constant hits of Aura and Revolver. - Best Bandit builds (all the B's!) |
Sir Chadwell Starter Weapon: Corrupted Sword Passive: Gain 1% Difficulty per level. Deals increased damage at low HP. | Weapon 2: Dexecutioner Weapon 3: Aura Weapon 4: Katana Tome 1: XP Tome Tome 2: Luck Tome Tome 3: Cursed Tome Tome 4: Size Tome Items: Anvil, Joe's Dagger, Sucky Magnet, Demonic Blood, Beefy Ring, Forbidden Juice, Grandma's Secret Tonic, Moldy Cheese, Time Bracelet | - The Holy Trinity of tomes snowball for quick scaling, making Sir Chadwell OP for mid to late-game content. - Size Tome will increase the projectile size of each weapon, increase AoE for Corrupted Sword, Dexecutioner, Aura, and Katana. You'll be hitting enemies well before they come anywhere near you. - Cursed Tome can be traded with Damage Tome if you don't want the added difficulty on top of Sir Chadwell's passive. - Anvil, Sucky Magnet, and Joe's Dagger are crucial to this build. With the increased Luck, you should get at least two of these fairly early. If you don't, your run's a bust. - More variety for your Sir Chadwell builds. |
| Dicehead Starter Weapon: Dice Passive: Roll the dice and upgrade a random stat on level up. Rolling a 6 increases your Crit Chance permanently. | Weapon 2: Katana Weapon 3: Revolver Weapon 4: Aura/Lightning Staff Tome 1: Luck Tome Tome 2: Precision Tome Tome 3: Damage Tome Tome 4: Quantity Tome Items: Moldy Cheese, Clover, Time Bracelet, Gym Sauce, Forbidden Juice, Grandma's Secret Tonic, Backpack, Beefy Ring, Overpowered Lamp, Giant Fork | - Dicehead is one of the hardest characters to unlock in Megabonk. He's also one of the strongest, and with this build, he becomes OP. - The Dice, even after the patch that fixed the stats buff glitch, remains one of the strongest weapons in Megabonk. Pair it with more projectile-based weapons and the Precision Tome, and you're all set for landing crits with nearly every attack. - Luck Tome will increase the Dice's chances of rolling 6 and get better stats from Dicehead's passive for better late-game snowballing. - Damage Tome not only boosts your base damage but also synergizes well with Precision Tome to boost Dicehead's Crit damage. - Items like the Beefy Ring and Gym Sauce will further provide a damage boost. Mirror will increase invulnerability, and the Giant Fork provides the push for Megacrit. Lifesteal, Armor, and HP boosting items are also needed to increase Dicehead's survivability, so make sure to pick those up along the way. - More Dicehead builds to try! |

Megabonk Character Builds FAQ
Different characters excel in different Megabonk challenges. For example, Athena and Megachad are the best characters for the AFK Gaming Challenge. Athena is also the best choice for the Pacifist Challenge. If you're having a hard time completing Challenges in Megabonk, check out our detailed guide on All Megabonk Challenges for the best strategies.
Always start by upgrading your character's starter weapon since it's guaranteed from the beginning. Look at your character's passive ability—if it boosts a specific stat like Crit Chance (CL4NK) or movement speed (Calcium), choose weapons that benefit from that stat. For example, CL4NK's Crit passive works great with high-projectile weapons like Revolver and Bone. If you're struggling to find synergy, Aura is a reliable fallback that works on nearly every character since it provides consistent area damage without requiring specific builds.
Not necessarily. The weapons and tomes are listed in priority order, but you won't always get your preferred choices when leveling up. If your top choice is not available, select the next option from the list. The builds show ideal scenarios, but flexibility is key! Grabbing a strong alternative weapon is better than waiting several levels for your perfect choice. The same applies to items from chests and vendors; take what's available and adapt your strategy accordingly.
Many items have hidden synergies with character passives or specific stats. Moldy Cheese does poison damage to enemies, which does massive damage over time, making it a must-have item in almost every build. Credit Card (Green) boosts luck, making it perfect for Mr Fox, whose passive already scales with luck. These items might not directly increase damage, but they improve your overall run quality by giving you better options as you progress through swarms.
Weapon and tome slots unlock as you progress through the game. Focus on completing runs and earning currency to purchase permanent upgrades. During individual runs, prioritize XP-boosting items and the XP Tome itself to level up faster. Higher levels allow you to equip more weapons and tomes within a single run. The more slots you have, the more powerful your builds become, so unlocking these should be one of your first long-term goals.
