Noelle is another difficult-to-build character due to her ranged, mage attributes that make things slow early on. However, equip the right weapons, tomes, and items, and you’ll see why Noelle has dethroned Robinette as the leaderboard character. Below, we’ve shared three Noelle builds that you can replicate if you’d like to have a run for the leaderboard or just have some fun with the Ice Mage.
Best Noelle Builds in Megabonk
Thanks to a versatile weapon and decent agility, Noelle can be built in a few different ways for different playstyles. Whether you like crowd control, crit-based gameplay, or rely on high survivability for longer runs, you can do it all with these Noelle builds.
Build 1 - Frost Control
Running Size and Cooldown with Noelle is currently the best strategy for Noelle. It will increase the area of effect and attack speed of Frostwalker, making it more effective. See the table below for the other weapons, tomes, and items to pick.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Frostwalker Aura Lightning Staff Black Hole | Size Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome Quantity Tome | Ice Cube Battery Ice Crystal Beefy Ring Demonic Soul Wrench Clover Time Bracelet Gym Sauce Feathers Boss Buster |
Why It Works: Frostwalker will freeze and slow down enemies while Aura sweeps them up with its higher damage and attack rate. The Damage and Cooldown Tomes will further increase the attack speed of both these weapons. Size Tome will also increase Noelle’s overall damage, thanks to the passive damage gain per frozen enemy.
Lightning Staff will be the main DPS weapon of this build, chaining attacks with projectile bounces to clear up frozen enemies in an instant. Firestaff is also a good alternative if you don’t see the Lightning Staff early.
Black Hole will also have a supportive, crowd-controlling role in this build. However, you can swap it out for a ranged weapon like the Revolver or Bananarang if Frostwalker is enough crowd control for you.
Items like Ice Crystal and Ice Cube are natural choices for Noelle because they will fuel her passive damage scaling. Also, prioritize damage and movement boosting items from vendors and Moai.

Build 2 - Critical Freeze
Noelle’s damage scaling with frozen enemies can be used to create a highly effective crit-based build. It’s similar to Build 1, but Crit Chance and Crit Damage are preferred over Size.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Frostwalker Revolver Katana Dexecutioner/Aura | Precision Tome Damage Tome Cooldown Tome Quantity Tome | Moldy Cheese Forbidden Juice Giant Fork Demonic Blade Beefy Ring Demonic Soul Grandma’s Secret Tonic Battery Backpack Anvil Joe’s Dagger Overpowered Lamp |
Why It Works: The core of this build is similar to Build 1- use Frostwalker to create zones and secondary weapons to sweep enemies. Only this time, you’ll be relying on crits for quicker and deadlier attacks for Elites and Bosses.
Katana and Revolver, scaling with Damage, Precision, Cooldown, and Quantity Tome, will be the hard hitters of this build. With Moldy Cheese in your inventory, these weapons will make light work of bosses, while the Demonic Blade helps you recover faster from any hits. Aura is for players who want to add an extra layer of safety. Choose Dexecutioner if you’re good with movements and positioning.
If you see Crit items early, this is the build to go for. Pivot to Build 1 if these items don’t appear before the second swarm hits.
Build 3 - Icy Tank
If you see defensive items early, go for this build that transforms Noelle into a tank for long-run survivability.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Frostwalker Flamewalker Aura Sword/Dexecutioner | XP Tome HP Tome Cooldown Tome/Quantity Tome Size Tome | Clover Time Bracelet Dragonfire Ice Cube Ice Crystal Feathers Soul Harvester Battery Backpack Joe’s Dagger Demonic Blood Moldy Cheese Gas Mask Chonkplate Holy Book |
Why It Works: This is a slightly chaotic build that relies on multiple synergies for full effectiveness. The most important one is the Size and Cooldown Tome that scales all your weapons in one way or another. Cooldown Tome and Quantity Tome are interchangeable. Use items to cover for the tome that you don’t get/choose.
For example, if you get the Cooldown Tome, pick Projectile Count from Charge Shrines, stack Backpacks, and pick Projectile Count upgrades for whenever you get them, especially for Sword.
Item synergies are equally important here. Moldy Cheese will poison enemies, while Gas Mask uses that to generate Armor and Overheal. Dragonfire will cause Flamewalker to cause burn DoT to affected enemies. Ice Cube and Ice Crystal will amplify Frostwalker’s freezing effect. Chonkplate, Holy Book, with the HP Tome, will massively increase your overall survivability and allow you to tank some direct hits, especially during boss battles.
Noelle Starter Weapon and Passive

Noelle’s starting weapon is the Frostwalker, an AoE weapon like Aura that deals 360-degree damage. However, instead of damage, Frostwalker excels at freezing enemies to slow them down, while other damage-heavy weapons clear them up.
You must unlock the Frostwalker by finding the Ice Cube (drops from chests during a run) and freezing 1,000 enemies with it. Unlocking Frostwalker is also a requirement to unlock Noelle.
Strengths | Weaknesses | Passive |
---|---|---|
Crowd control: Freeze and slow down enemies to create safe zones. Size passive: Noelle’s passive increases Frostwalker’s size, making it more effective the longer the run continues. Multiple synergies: Frostwalker synergizes with Attack Speed, Size, Damage, and Duration, allowing you to scale multiple weapons with single upgrades.. | Weak weapon: In terms of damage output, Frostwalker is weak. That makes early-run farming slow and difficult. | Gain +1% Size per level. Also, increase damage per frozen enemies. |
Megabonk Noelle FAQs
To unlock Noelle, you need to complete three different objectives. First, you have to find the Ice Cube and then freeze 1,000 enemies with it to unlock the Frostwalker (Noelle’s signature weapon. Next, you must kill 50 enemies using Frostwalker to unlock the Ice Crystal, a Common item. After that, replicate the Ice Crystal three times using a white Microwave oven during a single ring without replicating any other item in between to unlock Noelle.
Noelle’s +1% Size gain passive increases the size of all equipped weapons by 1% every time you level up. This increases the area of effect for weapons like Frostwalker, Flamewalker, and Aura, and increases the projectile size of weapons like Katana, Dexecutioner, Bananarang, Tornado, and Blood Magic.
Weapons that scale with Size are very good for Noelle. Frostwalker, Flamewalker, Black Hole, and Aura will naturally scale with Noelle’s passive for increased area of effect. Other weapons with high damage are great secondary options to quickly clear the frozen/stunned enemies. Sword, Revolver, Katana, Sniper Rifle, Dexecutioner, and Dice are all good choices.
