What will fishing on MCC Island be like?

MCC Island announced the anticipated Fishing Update on their Twitter early this morning. While fans are abuzz with excitement, some are questioning what makes the MCC Island version so special when fishing is already a developed feature in Minecraft.

Most of the game modes on MCC Island are one-offs that restart every season. However, the MCC Island developers are stepping out of this pattern and making fishing the very first continuous game on the island. For the first time in MCC Island history, fishing will be a game mode that progresses constantly, with progress being carried between seasons.

With all this time on your hands, you'll want to have plenty to catch and do while fishing. I'm very happy to say that MCC Island is hitting the mark on playability. The first thing you need to know is that fishing will consist of various islands for you to unlock and explore. Further, each island has its own rare and unique fish, with fish of different rarities appearing based on your location and the time of day you are playing. These fish will be measured both on their rarity and their weight class (Average, Large, Massive, and Gargantuan).

While fish are the highlight, players will also catch trash and treasures. Everything caught while fishing can be used in some way in the fishing system; they could be sold for money, crafted into temporary boosts, or another use that hasn't been announced yet.

Players will be rewarded for their time spent fishing in a few ways. Firstly, players will be given Angler Trophies for catching each type of fish in their different weights. Every fish can give the player up to four Angler Trophies if caught in every size; these trophies increase your Crown Level and unlock access to new islands, upgrades, and more in the fishing area. Players will also be able to complete Fishing Quests for prizes like Reward Crates. As a final bonus, fishing will give players Island XP; Island XP will be put toward things like a player's Battle Pass.

As mentioned previously, Fishing will be a progressive system that continues every season. One of the markers of your progression will be your Fishing Badges; these badges will give you permanent upgrades as they are leveled up, like faster fishing. Additionally, you will be able to add permanent upgrades to your Fishing Rod.

What is the release date for fishing in MCC Island?

MCC Island has not yet released a specific date for the big fishing update. However, we do know that it will be released early this summer. This means players should only wait 1-2 months to explore this new game mode.
