The release date for MLB: The Show 22 is April 5, 2022. This year's cover athlete is Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani as the first Japanese player to grace the cover of one of the four major sports video games.
MLB: The Show 22 will also feature another first: It will release on Nintendo Switch for the first time ever. This year's title will not only be on both current-gen and next-gen PlayStation and Xbox, but it will be available on Nintendo Switch. Also, Nintendo Switch players will not be left out of the action because crossplay is expected to be fully supported across all consoles mentioned.
MLB: The Show 22 will also feature cross-progression, so players will keep all their saved data across consoles. This year's title is expected to feature Diamond Dynasty again, so players will be able to collect, trade, and play with cards across all consoles.
During the cover athlete reveal, San Diego Studios also shared the release date and that MLB: The Show 22 is already available for pre-order. Players can pre-order the game on console stores or at available retailers carrying pre-orders.
