New World is the newest MMO available, and since its launch, it has seen a significant amount of players to the point where servers have filled up. As an MMO, there is a certain social aspect to New World. One important feature of this is factions.
There are three factions in New World: Marauders, Syndicate, and Covenant. When you receive the Commitment to Cause quest, you can choose which faction to align yourself with. From there, you can level up your faction rank by completing quests.

There are two different types of quests in New World—PvE and PvP quests. Both quests will improve your rank with your faction though you will see a significant increase for completing PvP quests. PvE quests may have you retrieve items, kill enemies, or craft items. They have no time limit and typically grant around 300 reputation.
PvP quests include holding ground, collecting resources, or retrieving items. If you die while doing the quest, you will fail it. Once you have started a PvP quest, you will be flagged for PvP and players can attack you. They typically give about 400 reputation.
Completing as many quests and as quickly as possible will ensure that you increase your rank with your faction. How you decide to do so will be up to you whether you enjoy PvP or PvE content more.
