E3 2022 is canceled

Fans may be in for yet another year of bad news.

After being canceled in 2020 and moving to an online format in 2021, many fans of the famous trade event for the gaming industry have been wary of future developments. Fears appear to be founded as many leaders and influencers in the gaming community report the cancellation of the event for 2022.

PR Lead for Razer, Will Powers, tweeted on March 31, 2022, that he had received an email confirming the cancellation of the digital E3 2022 event. When Brenna Duffitt, a software engineer for Xbox, requested clarification on whether or not this meant an in-person E3 event would still occur, Powers replied, "Official ESA E3 is officially cancelled cancelled." Shortly after, several outlets for gaming, such as IGN and Gamespot, confirmed reports of the cancellation of the event.
