Hikari is a man of many skills.

There is a laundry list of reasons why Hikari is a top tier character in Octopath Traveler 2, but one of the strongest points of contention is his ability to learn skills from NPCs. This can give Hikari access to different weapons, which can help him break shields and get an edge during combat.

Which Skills should Hikari learn in Octopath Traveler 2?

Squall of Arrows

This skills is an easy way to farm enemies that are weak to arrows in Octopath Traveler 2. Squall of Arrows hits three to five times and hits all foes at the same time. It's useful for breaking shields in a hurry as well.

Deep Analysis

Similar to the Scholar ability Analyze, this ability actually reveals two weak points instead of only one. Deep Analysis is great to click when first encountering bosses to get their weak points exposed and start shaving down their shield points.

Divine Double Slash

One of the easier skills to learn, Hikari gets this automatically after beating his third chapter in Wellgrove. Other than just having huge damage output, this double hit effects all foes. Use this against enemy hordes or against boss fights with two enemies.

Drive Back

This skill prevents the enemy from moving again until the next turn. To use this effectively, it helps to have Hikari built with a decent amount of speed. The idea is that Hikari wants to move first and then cancel an enemy's action for that turn.

Thrash

Hikari also gets this skill automatically after beating his second chapter in Montwise. This helps Hikari a lot during the early game, since his Warrior class only gives him Sword and Polearm access. Thrash is an AOE Axe move, which will allow him to cover most enemies. Of course, if Hikari gets a secondary job like Hunter with Axes, this can be replaced to give Hikari more coverage.
