Octopath Traveler 2 Weakness Order

Spend less time guessing boss weak points.

Octopath Traveler 2 players can often spend lots of time guessing the weaknesses of certain enemies. Especially without skills like Analyze or Akala/Mahina, players can end up simply throwing every weapon they have at the enemy just to discover their weak points. Each of these weaknesses are displayed in an order, though, and knowing the order takes lots of the guess work out of finding weaknesses.

What order do weaknesses show up in Octopath Traveler 2?

Between the six physical and six magical weapons in Octopath Traveler 2, they will always be displayed on the screen in a particular order. This is why physical weaknesses are always shown on the left and magical weaknesses on the right of an enemy's weakness bar. The order for all twelve weapon types are as follows:

  • Swords
  • Polearms
  • Daggers
  • Axes
  • Bows
  • Staffs
  • Fire
  • Ice
  • Lightning
  • Wind
  • Light
  • Darkness

Once a player memorizes this order, they can figure out what weaknesses an enemy has much more easily. For example, suppose Hikari hits an enemy and discovers a Polearm weakness, but the enemy has an unknown weakness slot to the left of the Polearms. This slot is guaranteed to be Swords, because only Swords come before Polearms in the order.

It can also help if players find a Staff weakness on the enemy. Since it's the last physical weapon type in the order, players can assume that any weakness that come after Staffs are magical weaknesses. Therefore, they can start spamming spells like Elemental Barrage to find the rest of that enemy's weak points.
