Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the latest mainline entry in the Pokémon franchise, and like many new entries in the Pokémon franchise, players find themselves in an entirely new region. The region in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is unlike any franchise fans have encountered thus far, as their mission is to create the world's first Pokédex, but where does this adventure transpire?
Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place long ago in the Hisui region. The Hisui region was a vast and untamed area before people and Pokémon were close. Trainers in Legends Arceus are pioneers that explore uncharted territory by studying these Pokémon. Hisui eventually becomes known as the Sinnoh region, where the fourth generation of the Pokémon games, Diamond and Pearl, occurs.

The untamed wilds of the Hisui region do come with a set of unique obstacles for players to overcome as well, like Alpha Pokémon that populate the game's open world and wardens—rare and powerful rival trainers that will intermittently challenge players.
