Best nature for Latios in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

And this time, you don't have to search all over Hoeen to find it!

Pokémon fans should be very happy Latios came back with The Indigo Disk in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet—it's practically a legend, in competitive and casual, for being really fast and dropping huge Draco Meteors on unsuspecting victims. To maximize its potential, though, you will want the right nature.

What are the best natures for Latios in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best thing Latios has going for it is Speed. Therefore, it will most likely want a Speed-boosting nature, with only one exception. Here are the best natures for Latios:

  • Timid (+Speed, -Atk)
  • Calm (+Sp Def, -Atk)

Latios has a reputation for doing two things: running Choice Specs and clicking Draco Meteor and running Choice Scarf and clicking Draco Meteor. In either case, you will want the Timid nature since it gives Latios enough Speed to outrun things like Garchomp, Thundurus-Therian, and Keldeo.

Latios also gets the move Trick, and it can be very smart to Trick a Choice item onto a stall-oriented Pokémon. Things like Blissey and Toxapex really can't put in work if they're only locked into one move.

Calm is an option because there is an Agility set that uses Weakness Policy. Basically, the idea is that Latios takes a super effective move, activates Weakness Policy, uses Agility, and suddenly they're at +2 Speed, Attack, and Special Attack. For this set, you will want the Calm nature so that you can live Moonblasts and Ice Beams.

How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

When choosing a nature for a Pokémon, you have to think of what role that Pokémon is playing. If they have the Speed to sweep (like Latios certainly does), then you most likely want the Speed-boosting nature. Otherwise, it can be better to boost Attack or Special Attack to punish defensive walls, which are usually slower.
