Best Nature for Moltres in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

This fire burns, always.

Moltres is one of the most iconic Legendaries in the Pokémon franchise and is one of my favorites as it's in the first Pokémon game I ever played— Pokémon Leaf Green. In this guide, I'll tackle the best Nature options for Moltres in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What is the best Nature for Moltres in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best Nature for Moltres in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are the following:

  • Timid (+Speed, -Attack)
  • Naive (+Speed, -Sp. Defense)
  • Modest (+Sp. Attack, -Attack)

Moltres excels on the first-turn basis. Its main detrimental stat is Speed; hence, I recommend getting Timid or Naive as Moltres' Nature. Another Nature you can use on Moltres is Modest, which further boosts Moltres' already A-tier Special Attack.

These three Natures complement the usual Moltres build, leaning more toward inflicting burn onto enemies using moves like Flamethrower and Will-O-Wisp while empowering and protecting itself with Safeguard and Sunny Day.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Choosing the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is a lot more complicated than it seems. In this case, Moltres will benefit from an increased Speed stat due to Safeguard and Will-O-Wisp, further reinforcing its defenses to avoid getting one-shot by enemies. By increasing the Speed Stat of Moltres, you'll have a much better chance of taking the first turn, applying burn, and lowering your enemy's attack with Will-O-Wisp.

When deciding on a specific Pokémon's Nature, it's a good idea to gauge the moveset and role your Pokémon has in your team. "Is this Pokémon a support or a tank, or is it a glass-canon build?" Answering these questions will help you find a suitable Nature that will complement your Pokémon and boost its competitive edge.
