How to evolve Rockruff into Midnight Lycanroc in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Awwwoooo...

Completing the Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is not enough for some players. Some Pokémon have more than one form that you may want to collect. Lycanroc, for example, has three forms: Midday, Dusk, and Midnight. Here is how to get a Midnight Form Lycanroc in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

The form that Lycanroc takes when it evolves is dependent on the in-game time. To evolve Rockruff into Midnight Form Lycanroc you'll need to level Rockruff up to level 25 at night. Be very careful when you do this. If you level Rockruff up to 25 during the day, it will take on the Midday form instead.

They are incredibly rare, but if you happen to have a Rockruff with the Own Tempo Ability, it will not be able to evolve into Midday Lycanroc. It can only evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc. It's highly unlikely that you will have caught this kind of Rockruff by accident, however.

How to tell time in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet runs on an in-game clock that does not sink up with your Nintendo Switch console. Each day is divided into three periods: Morning, Evening, and Night. To tell which part of the day you are in, open your map by pressing Y in the overworld. There should be an indicator in the center of the white bar at the top of your map. A blue circle with a yellow sun is for morning. A peach circle with an orange sun is for evening. A purple circle with a white moon is for night.
