How to get Heatran in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The only Fire/Steel-type Pokémon in existence.

Heatran is the only Fire/Steel-type Pokémon in the game—one who lives in the depths of the Sinnoh region. Its unique typing grants it a total of 10 resistances, and it’s considered to be one of the tankiest Pokémon in the game due to its high Defense and Special Defense. Here’s how to find Heatran in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

After you’ve become the regional Champion and obtained the National Pokédex, you get access to an area on the northern-most part of the Battle Island called Stark Mountain. This is where you’ll find Heatran, though there are a couple of steps you need to take.

  1. The first time you enter Stark Mountain, reach its end together with Buck. Buck will steal the Magma Stone from the mountain, causing it to shake. Exit Stark Mountain.
  2. Fly to the Survival Area. Go to the house located left of the Pokémon Center. This is Buck’s house. Talk to his grandfather to hear the story of a dangerous Pokémon who sleeps in Stark Mountain, then to Buck. Buck will relent and return the Magma Stone to Stark Mountain.
  3. Go back to the last room you entered in Stark Mountain and you will find Heatran ready to be captured.

And that’s it! Congrats, you’ve saved the region from Heatran’s wrath and got yourself a powerful Pokémon.
