In the penultimate update before the primary FischFright Update, the developers have introduced a boss-type fish called Ashclaw to the base game. The Ashclaw can only be caught by fulfilling specific conditions. So, if you are a new player confused about how to catch an Ashclaw, here is a detailed guide about it.
When can you catch the Ashclaw in Fisch?
Though the Ashclaw is a Cataclysmic fish, you cannot catch it all the time, and it only appears when you receive a server notification saying "The Rock Volcano trembles violently — Arcten stirs within the magma! Catch it before the eruption begins!"
After receiving this message, you can travel straight to Roslit Bay and then into the Volcano area (-1875, 165, 380), where you can start fishing for the Ashclaw.
Remember, there is no particular timing for this notification to appear. Instead, the spawning of the Ashclaw is linked to an internal timer that fills as you and people on your server keep fishing in Roslit Bay Volcano. So, migrate to a public server with many players, then fill the internal bar quickly to get the Ashclaw.
How to catch the Ashclaw in Fisch
When you receive the message, it's time to catch the Ashclaw in Fisch. Firstly, the Ashclaw has a -90% Progress Rate and a very high Resilience. To counter these, you can use something like Rod of Depths, No-Life Rod, Seraphic Rod, Ruinous Oath, or Heaven's Rod. On top of these, you can add enchantments like Resillient, Mystical, Steady, and Blessed Song to make your life easy while catching these.
Along with that, you also need to get some Coal, as it is the preferred bait for the Ashclaw. The best way to get some Coal is to acquire Volcanic Geodes and open them to get Coal. Volcanic Geodes can be easily caught by fishing in Roslit Volcano or purchased from the Travelling Merchant. Basically, get your hands on some Coal to use as the bait.
How to catch Charybdis, Lusca, and Akkokorumi in Fisch
Along with the Ashclaw, there are three Cataclysmic Fish in the game that players can catch during the Admin Earthquake Event. So, whenever there is an Earthquake, you can go to the open ocean area where you can reel in fish. Since these are also Cataclysmic Fish, you should try to use rods like Seraphic, No Life, and other similar ones recommended for the Ashclaw.
Fish Name | Preferred Bait | Progress Penalty |
---|---|---|
Charybdis | Meteor Bait | −95% Progress Speed |
Lusca | Meteor Bait | −95% Progress Speed |
Akkorokamui | Meteor Bait | −95% Progress Speed |
