How to rescue Shahin in The Rogue Prince of Persia

Bring Shahin to the Oasis.

While fighting to free Persia from the Huns in the Rogue Prince of Persia, you'll discover that the Prince's brother, Shahin, has been captured by Berude. I'll show you the steps to take to free Shahin and bring him to the Oasis in the Rogue Prince of Persia.

How to free Shahin in The Rogue Prince of Persia

In The Rogue Prince of Persia, there are several steps you must follow to recognize the Prince's brother. Firstly, you must explore the Hun War Camp and the Academy to uncover Shahin's captivity.

Afterward, you must defeat Berude and find where Shahin is being held captive. Doing all of this will allow you to speak with Shahin, find a way to free him, and bring him back to the Oasis alongside the Prince.

How to unlock the Academy and Shahin's rescue quest

To unlock the Academy, players will have to unlock the Hun War Camp area. To do this, you need to speak with the village chief, Azadeh, in Zagros Village. Your conversation with her will unlock the Hun War Camp. You won't be able to visit it immediately, but you can choose to explore it in your next run.

In your next run, head to the Hun War Camp. You should naturally come across a small, open building with a table in it. Walking by the table will give you a queue to interact with it. Doing so allows you to read a note from Berude talking about capturing someone in the Academy. This note unlocks the Academy location and is used as the first clue for the Shahin rescue quest.

Searching for clues in the Academy

In the Academy, there will be many doors with golden light streaming out of them. You'll want to enter all of these. Many will contain chests or an altar, one will contain an Equipment Chest, and one will contain a clue about Shahin. You'll need to find this clue to continue.

After entering the messy clue room, you will see an exclamation mark symbol above the room's desk. Interact with it to investigate. The Prince realizes the torn fabric belongs to his brother Shahin, who has been captured by Berude.

With this clue, complete the Academy puzzle to open the door and face Berude.

Questioning Berude

When you face Berude next, the dialogue will change to center around Shahin.

After being defeated, Berude will speak a few words about Shahin. She'll also mention that he is imprisoned in the Tower of Oblivion.

Aqueduct clue

If you were unable to defeat Berude the first time, don't fret! It gives you the perfect opportunity to find the clue to Shahin's freedom hidden in the Aqueduct. To find it, you'll need to drop down every area you can until you see a shaft with a leak in it.

After finding this, continue forward and take on Berude again.

Finding Shahin in the Tower of Oblivion

Head into the Tower of Oblivion after defeating Berude.

To find Shahin, you'll need to head as deep into the dungeons as you can. I typically find him on one of the paths on the left side. You'll know you're at the right place because you'll see a teleport point followed by a series of cell doors.

Continue down the hall to find Shahin stuck in a cell at the end of it. He'll be happy to see his brother, but there isn't a way for him to escape currently.

After talking with Shahin, jump on the ledge to the right. There is a lever that you can pull, which will move part of the ceiling. Follow the path to see an open door. Enter it to find the prison guard's office.

There will be a notebook on the desk talking about the guard getting stuck in the cell Shahin is in. It will mention Azadeh by name and the need for water to flow to open the gate. The Prince will realize that the Aqueduct's sluice gate is used to open and close the cell doors.

You will be unable to help Shahin any further until your next run. I recommend pushing as far forward as you can to get a feel for things, then resetting to continue rescuing Shahin.

Opening Shahin's cell door

All of the events in this section need to be completed in the same run. First, go to Zagros Village and speak to Azaden. Ask her for help with the situation, and she'll give you a lever.

Next, return to the area you saw before in the Aqueduct. The lever can be placed onto a blue platform on the wall. Pull it to send water pouring down the shaft.

Now, defeat Berude another time to return to the prison. You need to do this in the same run that you started the water in. When you return to Shahin's cell, you'll notice the water turning a water wheel in the background.

Climb up onto the nearby ledge to use the lever. Pull it to rotate the ceiling.

Pulling the lever changes the direction of the water wheel. This opens the cell doors, freeing Shahin. The Prince will send him back to Oasis while he continues further down the path.

When you return to the camp, Shahin will be waiting beside the Prince's tent.
