One of the most exciting things about Romance Guide is how it's partially a dating sim. As early as the second or third week of your stay in Rigbarth, you're allowed to pursue one resident of your choice and woo them with exciting dates, food, and the smell of adventure.

Who can you marry in Rune Factory 5?
The good news is that no matter what gender you pick at the beginning of the game, every eligible bachelor and bachelorette in Rigbarth can be asked for their hand in marriage.

You will know they’re a bachelor or bachelorette if their name is marked with a heart (as opposed to a smiley face) on your relationship menu.
How to date your love interest in Rune Factory 5
To date any bachelor or bachelorette, you first need o do two things:
- Raise their friendship level to seven at minimum.
- See two romance events in Rigbarth. These are marked with a heart on your town map whenever you explore them. You can only have one active romance event at a time.
Fulfilling both will allow Ares or Alice to confess mid-dialogue. You will see an “Um…” or something similar on the dialogue box if your character is ready to confess.
However, just because you're ready to confess doesn't mean they're ready to accept your confession. You can only confess once a day. If you're rejected, try the next day again. Your chances of accepting your confession go up the higher your friendship level with them is. You can raise friendship levels using the Greeting Spell once a day, going with them to festivals, taking them on adventures, and bribing them with their favorite gifts—among others.

There are additional romance events that you can view when you start dating, but the above are the ones you will want to clear initially.
How to get married in Rune Factory 5
Once you’re dating the love interest of your choice, it’s time to take the next step: getting married! There is no divorce in this game, so you need to be ready to commit.
Before you get married, however, you will need to:
- Clear the main story.
- Raise their relationship level to ten.
- Go on a date three times. You or your partner can initiate them. Festivals such as the Flower Festival also count as dates, as long as you invite them the day before.
- Purchase a Double Bed from Studio Palmo.
- View the last romance event. As long as you don’t have another active event, it should be available after your third date after 8:00 AM.
After you’ve done all of the above, you can now offer them an Engagement Ring and make your proposal. This is a level 20 craftable item. All you need is ore and a gemstone.
Finally, you’ll be asked to clear a Wedding Task. This will be available to view on the Rigbarth task board.

When can you have children in Rune Factory 5?
Before you can have children, at least three weeks after marriage need to pass before either you or your partner can have children. You can get a child even if you’re in a same-sex relationship. The only difference is the cutscene. Instead of either you or your partner getting pregnant, they instead pray to a tree.
The child will be born approximately five weeks later. You can only have a maximum of three kids per playthrough. A five-year time skip will happen whenever they’re born.
