How to Dash in Shin Megami Tensei V

Run like the wind, Nahobino.

Shin Megami Tensei has several fundamental mechanics that make navigating the overworld easier. One such mechanic is the Dash, a move that allows the Nahobino to sprint through the game’s wastelands at a breakneck pace. But how can players use this ability?

Holding either the ZL or ZR button allows players to dash in Shin Megami Tensei. If players want to perform an auto-Dash that keeps their character running without button input, tapping both ZL and ZR will initiate the auto-dash. Tapping ZL and ZR again will cancel the auto-dash and allow players to return to a more leisurely pace.

Dashing is an excellent way to outrun aggressive enemies in Shin Megami Tensei V, as the Nahobino can easily outpace enemies. However, this bolstered speed comes at a price, as the Nahobino cannot simultaneously use his preemptive strike on enemies in the overworld. Make sure to take a more cautious approach if you plan on confronting demons, giving yourself time to strike them.

Be careful when running through the Netherworld using auto-Dash, as it can be more challenging to control than a manual Dash. Running through a horde of enemies while using the auto-Dash can cause players to get ambushed, so if there’s an abundance of adversaries around, we recommend gaining some distance before enabling auto-Dash.
