Genshin Impact leakers resort to drawing leaks amid DMCA concerns

These leaks are certainly not lacking in personality.

Genshin Impact's most prominent leakers have disappeared from social media following a DMCA subpoena application filed against Ubatcha. The lawsuit was filed by Singapore-based publisher Cognosphere's lawyers in the California district court, primarily targeting Ubatcha's activity in the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord server. Since news of the incident broke out, leakers personally shut down their socials, and forums and Discord servers have taken drastic measures to protect users—such as censoring leak sources and shutting down leak-related channels.

But nothing can stop persistent leakers from bringing their latest data spoils to the eager community. A hilarious illustrated leak of what is allegedly the splash art for rumored upcoming characters Alhaitham and Yaoyao was posted in the r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks subreddit. The source was hidden by mods to protect the leaker's identity.

The artistic masterpieces showcase Alhaitham surrounded by what looks like lotuses with long stems, as well as a glowing sword. Meanwhile, Yaoyao seems to be riding a giant bunny, sprinkling confetti in the air. The artworks are reminiscent of an iconic era of leaks that began when higher security measures were placed in the beta servers mid to late 2.0.

Leakers typically share descriptions of splash art, which are then interpreted by artists and rated for accuracy by the leakers themselves. With the absence of both leakers and design descriptions, artists have been referencing the leaked drawings to showcase more legible renditions of the splash art.

Talented Twitter artist @lujiani3 drew a beautiful interpretation of Althaitham's alleged splash art, surrounded by Crystalflies instead of lotuses.

Twitter user @dendrosdaily also posted beautiful artwork interpreting the splash art "leaks." No leaker is able to confirm the accuracy of any of these images, but Genshin Impact is expected to release the official artwork on December 5, 2022, assuming they follow their regular new-character reveal schedule.
