How to make and use a Fish Trap in Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest is a horror-survival experience with tons of crafting and building elements. To survive the forest, and the cannibals stalking you, you must forage for resources, materials, and food to keep yourself alive. One of the best sources of food are fish that you can find in rivers, ponds, and lakes. If you wish to catch fish easily, you should consider building a Fish Trap and placing it in a water body full of fish. Here's how you can make and use a Fish Trap in Sons of the Forest.

How to make a Fish Trap in Sons of the Forest

Building a Fish Trap in Sons of the Forest is fairly straightforward, as you can readily find its blueprint in the Guide Books. To select it, open your Guide Book, and then switch the book over to your left hand by pressing X to bring up the craftable blueprints menu. Here, in the Traps tab you will find the Fish Trap blueprint. After you place down the Fish Trap in a river, lake, or pond, you will need a total of 25 Sticks to complete the Fish Trap.

How to use a Fish Trap in Sons of the Forest

The Fish Trap works essentially like any other animal trap. Once you complete building the Fish Trap, wait for some time for the trap to do it's trick, and you should find some fish trapped inside for you to collect. It is important to consider placing the trap where you can visibly see fish in the water in abundance. Furthermore, the Fish Trap will be more efficient in narrow streams that flow in one direction, so the fish can be trapped easily.

If you're having a hard time with the Fish Trap, there are a few other ways to catch fish easily. Firstly, you can craft a Spear, and then go into shallow water with fish. Fish will be less prone to swimming away if you stay crouched in the water. Secondly, you can even ask Kelvin to get you fish by interacting with him and giving him the command to do so.
